whereas i'm trying to clean a toilet

can't anyone help us?? pretty please

wohmum · 22/07/2009 22:03

I use harpic limescale remover which does a pretty good job

wohmum · 22/07/2009 22:04

And you need to leave it for a while.

treesarethebaneofmylife · 22/07/2009 22:05

coke? As in cola, think thats what how clean pair use

treesarethebaneofmylife · 22/07/2009 22:05

oh for the taps, white vinegar

brimfull · 22/07/2009 22:06

yes
leave harpic or similar to soak for a while then scrub

it will ruin taps finish if left too long though

purpleturtle · 22/07/2009 22:08

I thought Limelite was pretty good stuff when I used it - have you left it on a bit? White vinegar won't have much impact on stubborn limescale, and coke likewise.

Neat Viakal. Works a treat.

CMOTdibbler · 22/07/2009 22:14

Wrap the tap with kitchen paper (or lay it over a flat area) and soak with white vinegar. Leave overnight, and it will be gone.

For the toilet, if it is on the side wet paper with vinegar and stick on the side, or bail out as much water as poss, then fill with vinegar and leave

blondieminx · 23/07/2009 11:00

Thanks all - yep leftthe limelite on for about 10 mins even though it says on the instructions 30 secs.

Will try the vinegar trick and if not then try the viakal!

Put denture tablets in the loo.

Treeesa · 23/07/2009 23:07

We moved into a house with an old toilet that was black below the water rim. Emptied all the water out, bought a huge catering bottle of vinegar and left it in over night.. All gone the next day.. A bit whiffy but did the trick..

Cilit bang works great on the kitchen sink limescale.

fothergill · 24/07/2009 12:50

sarsons white vineagar left in the loo did what remover couldn't.
