How do you stop lightweight plasticky items falling over in the dishwasher and filling up with gunk?

My dd is 18mths so my dishwasher is always full of bottles, cups, little tupperware pots etc, and everytime I use the dishwasher, when I open it all the little pots etc are upside down and full of manky dishwasher water, garrrr! Any suggestions?! Thanks!

no advice, I have exactly the same problem!

cups, pots and plastic tubs I put in the top rack where you would put cups and place the dishcloth on the top.

I put the dish cloth in every night anyway to keep it clean

No miracles, ~I just wedge them in between th spiky cup holder thingys, or put lids etc in th cutlery basket, doesn't always work though.

I wedge mine in too but they always end up upside down...have never heard of using a dishcloth though, will try!

Have exactly the same problem - I do try to wedge them in amongst other things but there are always a few that end up full of water - will try the dishcloth idea!

I thought there might be a gizmo or gadget out there somewhere that I could waste some money on!

No! Don't get the basket!
You can't get everything lying face down in it so it just fills them with more water, and if you don't pack it it chucks them all around inside the basket, and fills them anyway!
And the teats/things on top always come out dirtier than they went in for some reason.

I lie things like fishslices, slotted spoons across the top so that their long, heavyish handles are holding down the plastic boxes.

Should I be inventing something and applying to Dragons Den here?!

I tend to put things over them, like a bowl/tupperware box or spoons/fishslices, or I wash them by hand.
Which kind of defeats the object of the excercise but it winds me up so much when you have to empty the gunk and then wash them anyway

hmm must try the dishcloth thingy, like the idea of a clean dishcloth too

I use this basket and never have a problem with things tipping over. The top section is really useful for keeping things in place.

HMFG it is these blardy Avent pots that prompted me to start this post!!
I'm on hols at the mo so clearly have too much time on my hands - but they're really getting to me!!

That basket looks quite good but not really big enough - I'm still thinking of going on Dragons Den, lol

I put small spouty bits in the cutlery basket, which has a lid that you can put down to stop the littlest bits flying around the dishwasher.

Little pots go over spikes on the top shelf, then I put a larger item over the top, like a sieve or spatula etc, to wedge them in place.

Doesn't always work though

May invest in a basket anyway
