Does anyone know what's caused one of the pins in the kettle plug to melt into the socket?

Have managed to get the plug out of the wall but it's buggered. I don't need to be without my frigging kettle, and certianly don't need to paying for a new one.

i thuoght the fuse would go if there was a power surge, wither on the plu, or at fusebox. Not the actual black bit round the prong. This happened as the thing was boiling.

Me too. I would also be getting an electrician round to check things over. And boiling water in a pan on the stove.

Have ordered a new kettle to collect form Argos 2morrow, which involves a 35 mile round trip but what can yuo do, since Woolies closed!
