ie, the rubber one that you put inside the bath.
Mine is all slimy and mildewy and have tried cleaning it with soap and bathroom cleaner but nothing seems to do the trick.
thank you ladies!

The occasional soak in diluted bleach can help.

But in the end you just have to ditch it and buy a new one.

I put mine in the washing machine with biological washing powder (just don't tumble dry it ).

risingstar · 20/06/2009 09:04

I buy ones for £3 from wilkos and through them out when disgusting.......but i am a wastrel!

whomovedmychocolate · 20/06/2009 18:33

Actually I found out today my cleaner uses lemon kitchen cleaner on hers - the squirty Mr Muscle one and apparently it cleans the crap off quite effectively.

moaningminnie2020 · 20/06/2009 19:06

I buy the smartprice asda ones, think approx £1.75 a pop and throw out when too yucky, clean with Flash with the rest of the bathroom until it becomes a losing battle.

Had wondered about trying in the washing machine as I have washed a scummy shower curtain successfully a couple of weeks ago.

PeppermintCream · 20/06/2009 19:26

I put mine through the dishwasher along with the bath toys. I am too mean to keep buying new ones!

babyOcho · 20/06/2009 19:29

I soak mine in Milton once in a while.

PresidentTaylor · 20/06/2009 19:32

I do the milton thing too, and sometimes the washing machine...and then bin them eventually when they become unsalvageable.

jemart · 05/07/2009 20:43

Washing machine, 60 degree wash usually sorts it out.

cuppateaplease · 06/07/2009 09:15

I buy the see through plastic ones - these clean alot easier. Agree the rubber ones just go too yucky after a while and have to be binned

SparkyToo · 15/07/2009 23:08

DON'T put it in the washing machine - my mum did this to mine and it came out in bits - what a surprise!!!

SpaceNoodle · 15/07/2009 23:10

Soak it in water and bleach for about an hour then stick in the washing machine at 40. Does the trick for mine.

FAQinglovely · 15/07/2009 23:11

washing machine - but best to do it reasonably regularly and before it gets to the really yucky stage

Have done this for years and they've all survived.

mowbraygirl · 16/07/2009 23:20

I have a see through plastic one that I bought about 5 years ago. Every so often I put it in the washing machine with a load of washing biological powder at 40oC in fact washed it yesterday. Always comes up really clean find it much easier to keep clean than the other ones.

TheLadyEvenstar · 16/07/2009 23:36

I do this with raincovers as well...the washing machine i mean

In washing machine. With a flannel or tea towels to 'beat' the mound / mildew away.

My Bathroom rug mat has shrunk after washing, what I have done wrong?

Was it a cheap Bathroom rug mat. Can you recommend a better quality run mat - thank.
