Haven't got much done. Went to school at 3.15 to collect ds, but had forgotten it was art club , so took dd to library then back to school for ds at 4.15.

DS is because he doesn't is struggling at school and other kids are teasing him . He doesn't want to do homework and is generally discouraged .

my sis has phoned, stepmum is not doing well, she thinks we should visit with dc soon but i don't know whether this is a good idea as we would have to stay at least 1 night (it is a 5hr drive) and don't know whether she would tolerate them. Dad struggles to tolerate them at the best of times .

Scatty Poor DS. Can you speak to school/teacher?(Sure you have already thought of that!)Sorry to hear about your stepmum too. Are there any travel lodge places in the area? They are normally cheap for one night. Hope you can work something out.

Galen Hope your power is back on soon. Are you on a laptop? I couldn't use mine in a power cut because the wireles router is plugged into the electric! Very annoying!

Going to list more on Ebay later. Listed a load of books the other night. No interest so far.

galen · 10/06/2009 19:56

tort yes I'm on my laptop with my fab mobile broadband...a great investment!! so at least I can still mn in a power cut ( well till lappy battery runs out anyway!)

Tortoise · 10/06/2009 19:58

lol! Luckily power cuts don't happen very often!

littleboyblue · 10/06/2009 20:00

Evening.
So glad today is over. The boys have been complete rat-bags all day, am exhausted. haven't managed to get anything done at all, not the mission, not my own little jobs either.

I don't even remember what today's mission is! I'm not going to look either, or I'll try to fit it in tomorrow and have a busy one planned. Dreaded trip to dentist too

evening all

hope all are well and happy

wolf cub and dp tense stressed and cranky - jobs done 0

scattyspice · 10/06/2009 20:08

Hope the power comes back soon galen or you'll be going to bed by candle light lol.

Hope business picks up tort .

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have looked up Travel lodges, the nearest one is 15miles away but that would probably be fine. I'll talk to dad and see what he thinks.

I've also had a chat with dh about ds, agreed that we'll keep chipping away with his homework every night but not make too much of a deal of it. He spends some part of the school day in the 'slow learners' group away from the classroom, he gets a lot out of this and is making progress. My friend who helps in the classroom said that the brighter kids do tend to make comments if a child gets a question wrong etc or if they haven't done well in the spelling test. The teacher tries to discourage this, but it is inevitiable at this age. It used to go over his head, but he is obviously starting to notice now . He is pretty confident generally so hopefully he'll understand that being brainy isn't everything .

galen · 10/06/2009 20:40

hmm well still no power. and battery about to run out...could be an early night methinks! May even have an impromptu "date night"...what else can you do in a power cut? lol

Night all!

Starbear · 10/06/2009 20:52

Evening all.
DH is watching Football. So I thought I would get some chores ticked off. I was up at 5.30am and at work for 7am. Quite an day at work. Won't bore you or myself with it. Home early so I was able to clean out that damn cupboard. Ticked off at last.Done
Also paid for holiday insurance Done
Now for a couple of other things
Put a load of wash in
Write letter to nursery re end of contact Ds leaves them on 15th July.
Order some trellis
Should do some reading for a course in a couple of weeks but I'll be too tired by 10pm and I have to work tomorrow!
To ALL I'm taking extra vitimins just for the time beinging as various bugs & stress have laid me low. Just a suggestion

Tortoise · 10/06/2009 21:14

Lol Galen. Enjoy your early night.

LBB Sorry you have had a bad day. Hope dentists goes ok. I hate the dentists.

Few more bits listed. It take soooo long and is really boring!

Am thinking about getting a budgetting loan through benifits so that i can take DC away in the summer. I took one out before xmas last year for a new cooker. £600 loan meant losing £34 a week benifits but didn't take long to pay off and we coped fine.

Anyone have any opinions on if this is a good idea?

dylsmum1998 · 10/06/2009 22:05

tort sounds a good idea for the summer, before choosing either way i would look at how long does the loan take to pay off, would it leave yu short before christmas when trying to buy presents etc? i don't know how those loans work, but def something i would consider

Starbear · 10/06/2009 22:15

Tort Just a thought. Why not get the child benefit paid into a savings account. Try and get a cheaper break this year and next year you'll have money to spend without paying the extra interest on the loan. With a loan you'll always be behind. Just idea.
Well back to list
Put a load of wash in Done
Write letter to nursery re end of contact Ds leaves them on 15th July.Done
Order some trellis Done
Noticed a note from nursery will query this in the morning.
Have a good sleep everyone

Tortoise · 10/06/2009 22:47

Dyls Last one i took out was end of Nov i think and paid off by end March so not very long at all.

Star That is a good idea but maybe only part of the CB. I do rely on that for birhdays and other things because i get it 4 weekly.
Benifit loan is interest free so that isn't a problem.

swanriver · 10/06/2009 23:28

Scatty, have been there re: ds and school. He is now ahead of those who teased him
I'm so sorry for your Dad, and the difficult situation with visiting - I'm sure he will value the children visiting.

Galen, I love your hubpages. I think writing more is another challenge for me, especially letters to friends.

TMH I escaped too this eve, and went to Coop and then sat in car listening to radio at 10.00 pm . But actually everyone was fine - we had a lovely day today, I've felt very relaxed. Only one small tantrum after school, which I averted with tall tales.

swanriver · 10/06/2009 23:39

Starbear, hope work is less tiring tomorrow, or at very least, satisfying.
Your ds is going to school for first time! in Sept? That's exciting/scary - so many new friends to make for both of you.

Wolfcub, apart from the nasty characters, is the new job going alright? Hope ds is being sweet as well as demanding.

littleboyblue · 11/06/2009 01:13

galen Way-hey!
star good idea about the vitamins. Is something I have always meant to do as my diet is shockingly bad, but in the past have never been good at remembering to take tablets, but now with a proper routine sorted, plus I take other tabs now too, may have to have a look at some tomorrow.
