Carpet smells of vomit - someone please help

Aaaaaahhhhhh. ds2 had a vomiting phlegm incident on Monday. I cleaned it up using hotwater and antibac washing up liquid. This usually works but that room still stinks. Had the patio doors open all day every day - still stinks. any suggestions. It stinks.

I have heard bicarbonate of soda gets the smell out but I'm not sure if you have to mix it with water or just sprinkle it on and leave it for a few hours? Hopefully someone else will be along to help! Hope your DS is okay now?

My mother (midwife, HV, mother of 4 and all-round expert on baby sick), said that the best thing was bicarbonate of soda.

Also works on drunken teenager sick.

bicarb - leave it on for a while and then hoover it up. If this fails then hire a carpet cleaner!

Sodium bicarbonate will get it out. I had to do this recently when one of my boys was sick.

I was told to use biological washing powder in warm water on cat vomit and poo (due to the enzymes apparently!) It does work so perhaps would work on human vomit?

Thanks. He's fine now - gets asthma and ear problems which for some reason makes him swallow phlegm then vomit it back up occassionally?!?
Will try sprinkling bicarb on - wish I'd ask 15 mins earlier as I have just put the vacuum round which is probably what has made it smell.
Got a SENCO coming tomorrow - want to impress her with my amazing parenting and in depth understanding of my childs needs - this will be difficult if we are surrounded by the aroma of puke!

Tea tree oil is good for getting rid of smells.
