I probably spend a total of two hours a day, which includes everything, from laundry to cleaning the kitchen after every meal and hoovering downstairs 2-3 times a day. I wipe the bathroom and toilet every day, keep on top of everything and the house is always presentable.

I probably do 30 minutes in one go in the morning and the rest is broken up throughout the day into 10-20 minute bursts.

Not as much as I should

McDreamy · 01/06/2009 10:12

Wow Geepers - you sound organised!

mamadiva · 01/06/2009 10:17

about the same a geepers, but i dont hoover as much!
once a month i have a day of sorting out/throwing out crap that seems to constantly be finding its way into my house, clean out all the cupboards, clean the oven properly that kind of thing.

mamadiva · 01/06/2009 10:31

What about polishing etc how often do people do that?

I used to have a god routine but it's all gone to shot.

Everyday I used to:

Clean kitchen in morning and after dinner
Do the dishes as I went
Hoover downstairs
Clean bathroom
Generally tidy as I go
Load of washing

Every 2/3 days:

Clean kitchen/bathroom porch floors
Polish
Hoover upstairs
Bedding (normally once a week)

Decluttering has never been a strong point or cleaning in cupboards but both are badly needing done.

So hard to get the motivation to start it all!

I don't really have anything that needs polishing. Every day I do the tv, glass tv stand mirrors, and glass topped table with window cleaner, but don't have knick-knacks or stuff as such that need a proper polish.

alicecrail · 01/06/2009 10:36

Hi mamadiva I have this morning started a bedroom clear out thread, and i have done loads in just an hour (having a break at the moment ) Feel free to join me if you need to declutter anywhere.

mamadiva · 01/06/2009 10:40

Geepers I don't have old tatt knick knacks either just basically the same as you

Must get myself into proper routine tomorrow!!!

Taking DS out today so not today although could probably get a fair bit done when he goes for a np before we go!

Right must:

Take in washing
Hang out next load
Put another on
Polish
Hoover downstairs
Kitchen
Bathroom

That's do-able

Think I will maybe start on kitchen cupboards too if I get time.

Why not come on the slatterns thread for a while to help organise you?

When it's not half term my routine looks like this....

After school run....

Wash breakfast pots and anything Dh has kindly left me

Hoover living room and sweep kitchen

Put a load of washing in

clean kitchen work surfaces and mop floor

bleach toilet

After a coffee I tackle one 'other' job a day such as cleaning out cuboards, washing bedding, hoovering upstairs, cleaning bathroom, cleaning fridge etc.

Before lunch

I have a quick tidy round, maybe about 10 mins or so putting away toys and coffee cups

After lunch

Washing up
Clean oven, if it's been used
clean work surfaces

After Dinner

washing up
hoover living room
bath children and to bed

After childrens bedtime

vax any spills on chairs or carpets
tidy away toys
Put away washing

It sounds like lots but it's actually not, and as a reformed slattern it's much easier 'keeping on top of it as you go' than having a huge mess to clean
