Hi all.

dyl - GOOD LUCK you'll be great, drink lots of water and don't start too fast .

galen Absence makes the heart grow fonder . Thats why we need breaks from them, to realise how much we love them .

mad your 2 sound like wizz kids! Probably why they are such busy bees .

star have a lovely garden day. Its great to be able to focus on something without all the interuptions .

swan is party today? hope it goes well .

I had quite a disturbed night, DS is still poorly and dd was very twisty in the night (hopefully not going to be poorly again too ). Doesn't look like ds will be going to school tomorrow (or next week!) Have tried to pin dh down with a plan (who is going to stay off work with him) but he is being ellusive.

Today:
dh going to a bike show then to visit fil.
masses of ironing to do and mending
entertain DC.

BBL

littleboyblue · 31/05/2009 13:12

Hello all. I'm having another day off

Although I have washed and dressed the three of us (let dp do himself), sterilised bottles, did a bit of washing up, wiped down kitch and bathroom, did a load of washing and hung to dry, folded some dry washing, made the beds, fed everyone 2/3 times and now I am in my pj's watching BGT re-runs.
Too hot to take the boys out and they are both napping now anyway and dp has gone to shop.
Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather. Will catch up later.

grouchyoscar · 31/05/2009 13:48

Hello you wonderful lot

Friends couldn't come round last night Never mind, we sat out and had (another) BBQ.

Today I am just plodding along. Everything is ready for Ed back to school tomorrow so it's an easy day really.

I say easy day, well advice would be most appreciated as this is just not good

Better contact the council to collect the yard trimmings. BBL

scattyspice · 31/05/2009 16:26

FANTASTIC dyl. Excellent time, esp in this heat. .

Grouchy, i been on your thread (not able to help much though ).

Swan - hope party is going well (huge respect for handling 11 kids at the cinema!).

DH just got home. BBL

grouchyoscar · 31/05/2009 17:05

The mum from next door had a word with DH and it's sorted now, thank goodness. DS is quite a 'young' 5 and though he is big for his age, his head isn't and he's not able to handle the disappointment of 'friends' not 'playing nice' Poor lad.

Been to the corner shop for emergency eggs for dinner. DH wanted to make his Cauli and egg salad and he was a touch disappointed that he'd used all the eggs in the polenta cake. at Dyls I only walked 1km and I feel utterly pooped (Well done Dyls BTW)

DH has just mentioned that thinking about what he said to Mum next door made DS sound like Boo Radley

Minimal FLYing has kept the house afloat. I'm working tomorrow AM so I'll catch you all when I can. to all FLY friends and DPs and DCs

We're having dinner in the garden this evening, the weather is so very nice.

scattyspice · 31/05/2009 18:07

Glad that's sorted grouchy. Poor Ds, 5yos take things so personally don't they?

Done:
rallied ds, he's had some food and plenty of drinks and seems a bit better.
playing, sticking, painting etc, etc with dd
dh back, fil feeling better, home tomorrow.
degrotted Bathroom tiles
ironing
laundry
washed windows with DC .

Off tomorrow with ds but taking dd to nursery.

galen · 31/05/2009 19:05

Evening all

dyls wow well done you

scatty hop eds soon recovers

*grouchy glad you got it sorted

swan hope party went well

mad tell me about costco....only heard of it from my sister at wk/end, didnt know about it before but she said that some profeesions could join including teachers...so may get DH to join... is it good? She said good for lots of food cheap in bulk...which would be ideal for us as we buy everything in bulk anyway being so many of us LOL.....please enlighten me!!

everyone-else Hi!

I'm home....and feeling nicely remotivated ( although quite exhausted from late night and alcohol combo last night!)
DH has been an absolute star and had house lovely and tidy (all things considered!) and has done LOADS of washing! AND bought me a lovely big bunch of flowers....think I may have to go away more often!!

Have done quick S&S of bathrooms, put away some washing, put another load on, dinner done and cleared, sorted garden and paddling pool chaos LOL!
Uniforms/clothes all ready for tomorrow and lunchboxes done yay!

and LOTS of garden fun and big squeezy cuddles all round ( well except DS1 who is officially apparently too old for big squeezy hugs LOL!)

so need to do a bit of planning tonight...

To do tomorrow:

Quick tidy , dust and hoover throughout
Plant delphiniums and snap dragons I bought at wk/end
Dinner - beef casserole
Clean washing away
Thank You card to my sister
Update calendar
Ring Costco

Right best go do something useful!! Tomorrow ladies!

Summery posts here..
glad your ds is feeling a bit stronger Scatty.
Dylsmum, exercise is WONDERFUL
Grouchy I've rambled on your thread
Well done on garage content tipping TMH, and it was lovely to hear about your boys' characters last night
Starbear very very envious of your gardening fest - dh came back far too early last time we had that arrangement
Galen, hope everyone is giving you big hugs. Even train journey is fun by oneself methinks.

Party over. Went well. A few team games but children just loved running around house and garden together after cinema visit to Nights at Museum 2. (not as good as no 1 but warmed up half way through)
There was a finished homemade cake A guest's saintly father stayed in cinema with us, transported kids and helped to keep peace as three of visiting children were his!
It is all very exhausting though when dts occasionally play up, don't think I could possibly give another party this year. And my fridge is definitely NOT big enough.

littleboyblue · 31/05/2009 19:19

grouchy sounds like a tough one. Haven't got a clue what I'd do. I think I quite like swan's idea about inviting these children into your house for a play or for tea (not of the cup kind) or something, unless that would really upset your ds.
Maybe the only thing to do is have a friendly word with the parents. I really hope it gets better soon for your ds's sake (and yours).
dyls well done on the race, that's great.
My ironing's piled up again, but I'm ignoring it. Have put it in the cupboard so I can't see it! Tomorrow........
grouchy pleased it seems to have worked out now

I really have done minimal around the house today. I also haven't set foot out of it either! Just done 2 min hotspot, 5 min rr in living room, 5 min rr in ds's room and a bit in the kitchen, but me and dp haven't had dinner yet so will finish off in there later.
Am getting back on track tomorrow.

galen · 31/05/2009 19:28

swan gald it all went well... parties are exhausting though arent they, especially with younger siblings wanting to make sure they get in on all the action!

Ok ladies need some views and opinions from you wise and wonderful mommies.....please!

thinking about sleeping arrangements ..... at the moment:
DD1 and 2 share a fairly big room , both have mid sleeper cabin beds with toys stored under it..
DD 3 and 4 in another smaller room in single beds that will later convert into bunk beds when they are old enough...
DS 1 in rrom on his own, not huge but decent size
DS2 currenty in our room in his cot

So the plan was to convert the garage so Ds1 could move into, and Ds2 move into Ds1's room

BUT have not got the money to do that right now, and not really likely to in near future...so what do we do???

Options:
Leave things as they are; would really love to have our room back, especially as it has our en-suite too so I could take more time for myself to have shower etc...in evenings
Also sooner or later Ds will need to move into bed which will cause problems...

Move DS2 in with DS1 ; could be worked out space wise, but DS1 would not be happy, and there is such a big age gap (Ds1 now 11) and will need to do more homework etc...next year when at secondary school...but could do that downstairs maybe....

Move DD3 in with DD 1 and 2, would work using bunk beds and one single, which would fit as a big bedroom, then move DS2 in with DDD4 would be Ok spacewise too...BUT Dd3 and 4 are used to sharing and would miss each other, DD4 also likely to keep DS2 awake...and Dd1 and 2 would not be happy at having DD3 inwith them....Also would not be long term as eventually DD4 and DS2 couldn't share.....

Give up and all sleep in huge tent in garden???

So what do you think???
Any ideas or views....will no doubt leave things as they are for now, but would so love to get bedroom back as I think it would really help me to have just a bit of space I could regenerate and pamper myself once in a while.....

Hmmm what to do!!!

swanriver · 31/05/2009 20:03

I think one friend now has their ds2 (3) in their enormous bedroom whilst they sleep in a freezing study , because they don't want their ds1 to be woken by the three year old. I think he slept with them till he was two.
My sister used to have the baby sleeping in her ensuite as the only solution. Then she moved him in with two brothers for a while until oldest was 12.
I think your only option (if you want your bedroom back) is to put ds2 in with the littlest daughter and put dd3 in with the "big girls" for a bit. The strange thing is that I never found the early risers woke up the others, only us, because we were listening out.
My cousin with five dcs has boy/girl twns slpg in same room aged five years. Although her sons have always had separate rooms despite being only two years apart. Sometimes it is just needs must. I think it is not a long term arrangement just the only way they can manage for now.

swanriver · 31/05/2009 20:06

Ooh the other thing I forgot is that my dcs often have sleepovers in each others' rooms as a treat, so the arrangements aren't set in stone. So dd4 could visit the big girls and vice versa with dd3.
We also stagger our dss bedtimes as they are in same room, but ds1 goes to bed at 9pm and ds2 supposedly is asleep by 8.15

galen · 31/05/2009 20:13

LBB yes tis extremely confusing LOL feel free to ignore!Basicly I have 6 DC , currently 2 dd in one room, 2 dd in another, Ds1 in room on his own, and DS2 in our room...contemplating different options for moving DS2 somewhere else!!!!

MT DS1 is 11, DD1 9, DD2 7, DD3 5(next month), DD4 3 and Ds2 15 months.....

swan goo dpoints...will ponder, like the thought of a sort of "musical bedrooms" approach LOL

OP posts:
MaggieTulliver · 31/05/2009 20:16

DS1 is 11 - in the smallest room.

DD1 9, DD2 7, DD3 5(next month) - in the biggest room

DD4 3 and Ds2 15 months - in the 2nd biggest room.

This arrangement could work for the next 4 years by which time i would look to seperate ds2 from the dd.
