Removing stains from white polo shirts - Tips please

Please help me here. DS has a white pique polo shirt as part of his uniform and I just CANNOT get pen and paint stains out of them

5 out of 9 have been stained with felt tip, biro, poster paint and playground gribble. I have used stain removers, Oxi action crystal white, cold wash, hot wash, soaking and thick bleach rubbed into the stain and...nothing has shifted them at all. I loathe using bleach but, needs must IYKWIM

I now have the dilemma of spanking white shirts with b**y ingrained gribble on them. Any of you wonderful MNers got any suggestions before I turn them into dishcloths and buy more packs of shirts for the last 1/2 term

Thanks in advance

send him in grubby ones, everyone else will be.
Or if there are some in spottless ones ask their mum for the secret!

Our school has a choice of red or white, red definately doesn't show the stains in the same way.

Not really worth buying more now. Send him in the stained ones. My DC will be.

I regularly thank my lucky stars that DS1 keeps his sweatshirt on most of the day.

Hang them out in sunshine like today - that's the best bleach.

I would just send them a bit stained too. I can't see the point

hanging them on the line now but any other suggestions greatly appreciated

Bright sunshine removes most stains...either than or slightly grubby will do, he will only wreck the new ones

have you tried washing soda crystals, grouchy? I find that removes most things!

grouchyoscar · 27/05/2009 08:21

Well I tried pretty much everything. The sun bleaching was the most effective TBH but it looks like I have a huge pile of cleaning cloths now

I will suggest the school ammend the uniform policy!

I use bleach i the sink and soak them, then put them on a hot wash in machine - come up sparkly white

glitterchick · 27/05/2009 11:45

I agree with dontdillydally. Try bleach - that works for me.

Bio Tex Spray seems to help...

I bleach, if that doesnt remove stains, then they get worn as they are, ds seems to be far cleaner than my 2 dd's and he is younger
