What I really want is something as fabulous as Domestos Grotbuster, but in spray form for the shower curtain. And I've tried soaking the bedroom curtains in nappy san, which was a big fat waste of time. Any recommendations?

I'd probably wash the showercurtain in the washing machine with some bio powder and a squirt of bleach. Or bin it and buy a new one. You can get them for a couple of pounds now.

Bedroom curtains - same thing really. Mould stains won't come out, but it will be dead if you've soaked in nappysan. A couple of days on the washing line might fade the stains a bit.

I bought a almost cloth shower curtain (not plastic) and I put that in the washing machine with an old towel every month (when I remember) with a bit of bleach & soap. It needs something to wash against
Can't help with bedroom curtains sorry.

I would bin the cutains tbh.

If cream curtains will do I have some spare.

i havent ever managed to get mould out of curtains we had real damp problem when first moved in and curtains were useless you can pick up so cheap now anyway

as for shower curtain a good soak in bleach and then scrub works again id throw and start again as both would have horrible pores in

before using new curtain for shower soak in salt water stop them going mouldy just leave pulled after shower to dry properly

Do you still need ideas?

I will not be beaten by a bunch of spores! Can you recommend any particular bleach? I want one so effective, it takes the enamel off your teeth when you even look at the bottle. FabBakerGirl, thanks for your kind offer of spare curtains. I may well take you up on it if I fail in my endeavours.

this might help?

FabulousBakerGirl · 22/05/2009 14:22

heavily soiled non machine washable curtain - soak in a solution of one part bleach to 4 parts water.

Thanks for the link - although nothing compares to Domestos Grotbuster (imho) when it comes to getting rid of mould from hard surfaces. I even tried putting a tiiiiiiny little bit of the gel on a hidden corner of the curtain, even though they advise against using it on fabric, and it worked, but would take absolutely forever if I did all of the curtains. Will try soaking them in bleach. And if that doesn't work, I'll try burning them. That'll teach those uppity little spores!

FabBakerGirl - your bleach recipe has worked. Curtains are now almost pristine. Thank you, thank you!
