best polish for a victorian tiled hallway?

In our new house we discovered a lovely tiled hallway, scrubbed it, but it needs something to brighten it up and seal it. Anyone know of a good polish? Have been using that liquid Klear wax...is there anything better?

don't varnish it.

We have encaustic 'Victorian' tiles in our hallway but they were from Fired Earth and aren't original. However, they are based on original tiles so the same principles apply: you need to be careful what you put on them as the tiles are porous. The tiles were sealed with a Fired Earth sealer. We use either a Fired Earth product for cleaning or a squirt of Fairy in warm water. This was on the recommendation of the fitter. He said absolutely not to use Flash or similar floor cleaners.

Does wax not make the tiles slippery? AFAIK, Victorian tiles aren't bright shiny- they're matt in appearance because they're not usually glazed.

You might find this link useful, but I can't vouch for the products personally.

HTH!

thanks for that...if you're still around, thing is they are so porous they just get filthy, so only way to clean them is to scrub them on hands and knees...thought if I could seal them a bit, not with varnish, but some sort of liquid stuff then I could just mop them and the dirt would come off? Will check out the website, thanks

I do find the best way to clean my tiles is on my hands and knees using a scrubbing brush, with inbetween mops as required. Fortunately my hall is not very long and is very narrow!
