You know think I need to get the kids to help out more too. Those with older DC how much do they do?How do you get them motivated/willing to help?
Am going to get them back into the riley challenges, and to approach their own bedrooms a little bit at a time instead of me always takling the chaos...off to browse FLYlady for kids tips....

galen · 13/05/2009 18:29

ohhhhh DD3 and 4 now killing ech other...anyone want to adopt 6 children....

gibbberish · 13/05/2009 18:34

Got everything done that I wanted to today, so house is lovely and clean and tidy

Might do the little bit of ironing there is tonight whilst watching telly. Then again I might not!

shanna what meds are you on? Am on lamictal. Works very well.

wendy glad you had a relaxing morning. You need it sometimes.

swan your view sounds lovely. We have a nice view - right next to the hills.

damewashalot did you have another name? Do I know you??

maggie coffee with friend sounds nice

mad fish and chips mmmm . The job sounds good!

scatty can you do something about the extra workload? Not fair that you have to do it in your own time.

laura that was good of you to help your sis out. Perhaps she will return the favour. Nothing worse when your sleep patterns are out of sorts.

galen good for ds1 redeeming himself Sorry you have had a stressful day tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow will improve for you. Kids - who'd have 'em!

prof what is the job you are applying for?

wendy which one were you thinking of? Have tried them all at some point or another! Think my fave was Rosemary Conley. Very easy and sensible. Have just under 2st to lose and have just started yet another diet Am trying to get back into exercising again though so that will help.

gibbberish · 13/05/2009 18:34

Phew I'm shattered after all that - has been busy on here today. Hope I haven't missed anyone out!

galen · 13/05/2009 18:41

right am going to print out some routine sheets for DC....then some riley chellenge cards I think too....
Really am just immersing myself in organisational tasks to avoid actually etting up and tidying LOL

galen · 13/05/2009 18:42

gibberish forget the ironing - just chill - sounds like you deserve it! at clean tidy house lol

laurasmiles · 13/05/2009 18:42

I'm with you on the weight loss front. I have 2 spare stone too! I was doing well for a couple of months and then the scales bust and it was easter and then excuses excuses....lost my motivation

I went to a couple of Slimmer's world sessions. I was thinking of going again as I need something to kickstart me. They are a bit cringe worthy but sometimes necessary!

I know that once the excercies starts too though, the energy levels go up - so that is also key - if you can struggle through the first few weeks.

galen · 13/05/2009 18:43

hmmm seem totally unable to type tonight too...

gibbberish · 13/05/2009 18:59

laura Am using the 'fitness trainer' thing for the wii. Is very good - much harder than the wii fit, which I found didn't do much for me.

Don't know if it will help but I use the online food diary at bootsdiets.com. Is brilliant - records all the cals and fat content of what you eat each day as well as having graphs for your weight and measurements. Costs about £13 for 3 months which is hugely cheaper than a slimming club!

galen yeah have decided to take it easy. Got my sister coming round in a bit as her dd1 is on the tv on sky tonight and sis wants to watch her here as she doesn't have sky! Fame in the family at last

scattyspice · 13/05/2009 21:24

Wow gibber - that sounds exciting (its not Britains next top model or anything though is it... ).

Laura - hope you can get a good nights sleep tonight. Go to bed as soon as you feel tierd after 10pm, then you don't fall asleep on the sofa (I used to do that all the time).

Galen - goodness knows how you get kids to help in a useful way (bribe them I guess lol). I can remeber those battles at home with my Mum . I have enough trouble getting my dc to wash their faces and brush their teeth!

Done 1/2 ironing, bought bread and milk, done my work stuff (didn't take long).

BB tomorrow.

gibbberish · 13/05/2009 22:03

lol nooo. Was an interview by BBC Alba (Gaelic channel) about Gaelic speakers. Sis dd was the only one to be interviewed in her school - she is 10. Very proud of her.

swanriver · 13/05/2009 22:51

Gibbberish, can you speak any Gaelic yourself?
Scatty, hope you can get the people at work to behave for you. Well done on work paperwork efficiency

Galen, no chores of any note, except for table clearing, pj depositing and ds1 sometimes takes out rubbish. Also they love to hoover but that drives me bonkers because they like delibarately hoovering up things like socks to watch them whizz into cylinder.
They know how to make their beds too, sometimes. A bit of tablelaying too. And candle lighting is a fave. Dropping pasta into boiling water too. Chopping veg. Watering themselves.
All dangerous things are very popular.
They leave a trail of mess wherever they go.

Laura, I triumphed today over a choc brownie and ate a banana! The new trick is I leave all biscuits in the car.
I think also if I keep rushing around enough on foot something good will come of it.

Shannara, hope your medication improves, I'm glad you got your nap (hope you did!)

Today I managed pm
work in library with reception school kids
home for telly free afternoon
vp for ds1
playing mermaids in garden aka watering in dressing up clothes
Lugged lots of compost to garden from car
planted borlotti beans finally in tub
and some other veg seeds under polycarbonate sheeting
cooked v basic supper of pasta and bacon and tinned rice pudding
took ds2 to Beavers and helped
sent dd to Brownies
picked up dd from B
read dd a long story on return
ate late supper of fried cabbage DELICIOUS
drank lots of fizzy wine

swanriver · 13/05/2009 22:54

And I earthed up potatoes
Renewed car tax for six months

A nice day really! I think I'll go swimming tomorrow too...

TheMadHouse · 13/05/2009 23:02

What a busy day everyone has had

galen baby steps all the way - you will get there. I agree with making the children do - my two have two even though they are little.

I am going to make reward charts, as they will do the house work etc, but can not get DS1 to attempt to dress himself or get in the car either!!!

Wendy Star trek was great - left me hungering for more. Sylar is a great spock. We are trekies though

Chippie was shut so we had an indian instead.

DH has gone to bed, as he has to be up eary, as mum is staying I get a lie in

I am at the hospital first thing for my protecic fitting - woohoo

gibbberish · 13/05/2009 23:08

swan a little bit. The dds went to a gaelic play group when they were young.

Mum looked after the kids when for a few days when they were very young so that dh and I could have a few days away. dd4 drove her demented crying for 'bainne' (pronounced banya) for hours.

Mum had no idea what she wanted. dd3, who was 2yo at the time, after a whole day of dd4 having hysterics, finally told Mum it was Gaelic for milk.
