Anyone know how I can get my towels looking white again? Can i bleach them or will they fall apart? Knew it was daft choosing white...

Vanish whitening powder, Ariel and a very hot wash.

Ours always seem to stay white.

I don't always do a boil wash, but every few washes I do a very very hot white wash.

Does Vanish really work? I thought it might be a con! Dh bought osme so will try soon..

We've put Milton (for nappies) powder, Borax or just extra soap in.

I don't wash at high temps and usually use ecover so maybe that's why they look grubby. They are 8 years old now. I tried adding nappy soak and didn't help. Will have to get some vanish

Vanish is fabulous! It works very well indeed.

Eight years old! That's quite old for towels...

They were wedding present. Was thinking needed to get new ones as look so awful but money tight at moment so wanting to try and resurrect them. Will not go for white next time...

my mum still has my baby towles and theyre sparkly white and really soft. im 22 btw.

Buy Dylon Fabric Whitener (about £1.50 for 4 sachets.)

Or, for a cheaper and equally effective option, do a hot wash with prewash and squirt a big lug of bleach into the prewash drawer. Use fabric conditioner.

I renew my (perfectly good) white towels regularly because I just cannot keep them staying white (have tried everything).

dye them a different colour.

Try soaking them in a really hot solution of soda crystals and bicarbonate and then wash as normal.
