100% polyester faux fur blanket, says dry clean only, are they lying as we know they are wont to do

I have a lovely super soft scrumptious chocolate coloured faux fur blanket that lies on top of my duvet and I have a rather superstitious attachment to it somewhat along the lines of, if I dont have it I fear I wont sleep.

Last night my potty training dog leaked on it and it needs a good clean. I have never cleaned it before as it is not in contact with skin so much and stays clean otherwise. It says dry clean only, but this would mean I suppose I couldnt have it til later in the week as I guess I couldnt take it anywhere tomorrow then a few days to be done. Is it true this is the only way to clean it?

I think if you did try to wash it your washing machine filter may get clogged with the bits.

you can now get the stuff you put in a tumble drier to dry clean stuff at home, it's German and I cant remember the name, I think I got it from Tesco: you could get it a few years ago and then it stopped. Any way I will stop rambling, it does work for some dry clean only stuff, it's like a sheet you stick in the tumble drier and it magics the clothes fresh. This might work for you, or might bugger up your tumble drier, of course.

If the dog has weed then water needs to be used in my opinion. Dry cleaning surely will not remove urine.

I have a faux fur throw for my bed and i have chucked into the machine a couple of times and it's fine, not as soft as it used to be but thats probably as much from the wear of it.

hmm... I dont know what to do.

I did read somewhere you could put a dry clean only rug on the washing line and squirt it with a hose then let it dry.
