Absolutely vile washing machine - whats the best way to clean it?

We have inherited a 'new' washing machine.

It works perfectly well, but is truly vile inside. Any tips on something to use to clean it?

Have tried a couple of empty cycles on a high temp but to no avail. It needs something industrial strength (not kidding)

Ideas gratefully received

biological powder (fragranced) and a high temp cycle might work

Bleach. Be careful not to use too much though or your washing machine will make horrible noises as it tries to pump out a drums worth of foam. I told DP not to put half a litre in but he knew better

Run a wash cycle on the highest temperature, with two cupfulls of vinegar in the drum, make sure you run and extra rinse cycle as well.

I bought something the other day from the supermarket to clean the washer. It's a limescale cleaner more than a dirt cleaner though, made by oust. Hard to tell if it's done anything because that all goes on in the belly of it really doesn't it?

I think if the drum is dirty I'd pour bleach in the drawer and in the drum itself, probably some soda crystals too for good measure and run it on the hottest wash it has.

I would agree with the vinegar on a boilwash. It works.

I bought a spray bottle of liquid washing soda crystals and cleaned the drawer and compartment. Then used a bottle of washing machine cleaner (Dr something) - all bought from Sainsburys. My machine is clean now.
