So we had a damp problem in October it was treated and we thought it had gone away .

Since Jan we have all suffered with coughs and colds runny eyes etc etc.

Landlord cae today after we noticed a small black patch on living room wall he peeled back a bit of paper and joy of joys we have mould a big massive patch.

Landlord is going to deal with mould but I am thinking of getting a dehumidifier the wall is very damp and dd2 and dp both have Asthma and we have a new baby coming in 6 weeks and I really don't want her breathing all that crap in .

Are they worth it do they help just read some reviews and they look like they could help .

TIA.

We had one for our late Victorian rented place - we had lots of problems with damp, especially with all the washing we had to do. It's a Delonghi one and has lasted so far with no problems. It makes a huge difference to us, especially as we have lived in small houses. I was shocked at how much water we had to empty at first while it sucked the moisture out of the walls and furniture.

we have a delonghi (not sure of spelling there!) which is really good and it does get rid of a lot of damp.

my only advice would be it is worth getting one of the more expensive ones, my mum and dad got one that was £70 and it didnt do very much, we paid about £180 for ours and it is very powerful and works very well.

so i think really you get what you pay for with them and imo its worth spending a bit more and getting quite a powerful one

Have detailed my mum to collect one for me - none available in Devon or Cornwall. Let me know if it's any good!!

Ours changed our life!
We are opposite the sea, so the damp is a 'mare. The dehum. sucks about 10 litres of water a day when it's on, and increases the room temp by a couple of degrees.

Comewhinewithme · 17/04/2009 10:33

Will do fourarms dp is fetching it back tonight .

We used an air purifier last night too and it seemed to help dp wasn't coughing this morning (he usually sounds like steptoe)

Bucharest I hope it changes ours too am I sad for getting excited about it arriving? .

Well, mine arrived courtesy of my lovely mum (she brought it across from Kent to Devon!!) on Friday evening. I set it up last night, and it had about 1 or 2 litres of water in it about 12 hours later. Is this usual or high?

How's yours doing CWWM?
