Birkenstocks - tips on how to clean the soles?

I've got a pair of birkies I live in over the summer but the soles have got grubby looking. As they're a sort of suede feel not sure how best to clean them. Any sugestions? TIA

Is this the inside the soles question?

emmabemmasmom · 11/04/2009 14:44

Well I have a few pairs and I have been caught in the rain with them, had DD pour juice all over a pair, and fell in a lake with mine...everytime I just used a wet washcloth with a small touch of soap and scrubbed and then wiped off...baby wipes work a treat too. Just make sure to leave someplace good to dry out and don't wear them till they are dry.

Thats just me but hope that helps!

Oh, I don't know I've just left mine looking a bit grubby, or I've bought a new pair (I have a birkie addiction).

I'm sure you can buy new in-soles for birkies, through the website I think.

Thanks all for your replies. Yes, it is the inside the soles question.

er why would you want to clean them?

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 13/04/2009 23:39

Because they look really manky if I'm at someone's place and need to take them off. Wouldn't bother if that part of the birkies never saw the light of day.

I've put mine in the washing machine before on a very cool wash, low spin and on a fast programme.

Wouldn't do it more than once in their lifespan, but I sliced my toe open whilst wearing mine and had blood over them

It worked, but like I said, once was enough for them I think.

I scrub them with a scrubbing brush and hot water with biological detergent. It doesn't seem to do them any harm
