I love mine, too, has totally changed how I feel about dusting (sad that actually have a view on this, I know).

deckchair · 04/04/2009 15:45

Do I need one? Haven't got on, should I be ?

Trinityrhino · 04/04/2009 15:56

I have an ostrich feather one from the flylady website

and lovely

Deckchair - I think they're fab! Pick up the dust so well and much more fun that using a normal duster (oh god, did I just imply that dusting is in any way fun ?. Apparently ostrich feathers have some kind of special static that keeps the dust clinging to it until you shake it off outside (am not a scientist as you can probably tell from this explanation so this may not be entirely why the dust clings so well).

Trinity - does the Flylady one drop feathers? I have a bright pink one from the farmers' market (the people who sell ostrich burgers also sell dusters and eggs - I have no idea who needs an egg the size of a rugby ball but love the fact that they clearly don't waste anything!) but it does have a habit of dropping very fine pink feathers (they look rather like very, very fine fluffy ribbons) that the hoover won't pick up so I have to pick them up by hand. I had considered ordering a Flylady one in the hope that it won't do this but obviously not much point if it has the same problem.

you need one deckchair getting mine out again today, great for those cobwebs

mine has not dropped feathers so far

MrsMcCluskey · 05/04/2009 11:50

Is there a UK version of the fly lady site?

LoveInAColdClimate · 05/04/2009 18:00

Thanks, Trinityrhino.

MrsMcCluskey - sadly not (at least not that I know of), 'tis a real pain as it makes postage expensive, especially if you only want one thing. However, if you do order, I can highly recommend the Rubba Scrubba and the purple E-cloths (called Royal Rags I think). I really fancy one of the stainless steel water bottles (as well as a feather duster) but feel aggrieved by postage..

Can I say that Dunhelm Mill sell them for £7.99 according to their website, quite big too. Might be worth a look if you live near one of their stores.

Ok ok, I'm off to Dunelm this week!!
