How do I get designer sofa covered child-tough, for cheap?

We have an ivory sofa and a 15 month-old daughter.

Feel free to laugh.

All we want is to take off the removable seat-covers and replace them with beige cordoroy or something. And one arm cover. Don't need to do the frame.

But everyone I've asked seem to think it will cost loads. Even though we don't really care if they fit that well.

In the absence of a benevolent seamstress grandmother, what's the cheapest way of doing this (in London).

It is quite dear to get covers made.

Is there a similar sized sofa in IKEA that has loose covers that would do? They usually sell spares in different fabrics.

IME it is actually cheaper to buy a new sofa than to get one recovered....unless you are brave enough to make your own. I am actually quite tempted to have a go, as we are on our 3rd sofa in 5 years (thanks to the kids, cats etc).

I've gone down the route of using throws (similar colour to sofa, John Lewis).

I have some rather nice sofas by B&B Italia and Minotti, an open plan layout and a walking 14 month old - a somewhat frightning combination. My solution is to limit eating and drinking to the kitchen, use the throws as needed and follow around for the whole day!
