Seeing the current economical climate and the fact that I am lone parent with no money....come on ladies and gents lets share some money saving and money making tips.

Here are a few of the more obvious

Turn heating down
Line dry clothes rather than tumble dry
Energy saving lightbulbs
Shower
Full loads of laundry
Bulk buy

Any more.....any more....

Ooo and here is one, making banana loaf with the bananas that go too brown and mushy.

And I'm growing some veggies....come on there must be more

Charity shops are ace, just avoid Oxfam which can be as expensive as normal shops.

I got a pair of John Rocha trousers for dd for 50p and three children's books for £1 in Sue Ryder today.

The best charity shops are in the affluent areas, it's worth doing a drive / bus trip out for the money you'll save.

Thank you for the tip about free yeast! I went to Tesco's today and asked for it and sure enough, came away with some. How nice!

I had some ex battery hens and with the extra eggs I made pasta. Got a fab pasta maker from a car boot sale and with practice was great fun. Children enjoyed making it too.

Use cotton wool and water instead of over-priced wet wipes for nappy changes at home.

Borrow clothes from friends with older kids.

Buy / sell at the NCT second-hand sales.

Google 'Mothercare' / other store name and 'offers' for lines being discontinued - e.g. good deal on MacLaren stroller at the moment.

Make own compost - and bake...

Use library instead of buying books.

Take out a flask of tap water to avoid buying over-priced mineral water.

Bring on 'the Good Life'...!

Buy presents in advance. If there is a cracking deal but the birthday is 4 mths away, just get it and stash it.

Tesco Direct are doing 3 for 2 on toys ATM with double clubcard points too

and Redhouse books are great for pressies too' It's free P&P and they have sales/offers and book ends
