I have shirts I got for xmas, have worn once and not seen since!

I pointed out to him that there was nothing stopping him from doing some of his own ironing now and again....It is pretty embarrassing though. I just cant seem to keep up with it all and only ever seem to skim the surface iykwim. Its not like I iron EVERYTHING like some people do.

I iron...

Trousers, jeans,skirts, dresses.
T-shirts, shirts, jumpers.

I dont iron....

Bedding, underwear, nightwear etc.

What about everyone else? What do you iron and how do you keep on top of it??

I don't iron

dh irons his own shirts

MrsMattie · 21/03/2009 12:07

You iron bed sheets and towels?@Lone

Christ almighty, woman. Find a hobby!

bronze · 21/03/2009 12:10

I don't iron anything. DH does his own work shirts.
I just don't see the point though I have to admit its nice when mil does some of our laundry as everything gets ironed an dI feel all posh. Still not worth the effort though

ThePellyandMe · 21/03/2009 12:11

DH irons all his own stuff.

I iron t-shirts, school uniform, trousers, anything on show really.

In the winter when i tumble dry I can get away with not ironing ds's trousers and school jumpers but not in the summer, I find the creases don't drop out if thewy are line dryed.

I don't iron bedlinen.

It only takes me about 1 hour a week TBH, maybe a little more but not much.

My mum irons everything, when my ds's go and stay they come back with lovely neat piles of ironed pants

LoneStranger · 21/03/2009 12:23

Ahem, yes, I iron bedsheets and towels. I do also iron DDs knickers. I do have a tumble-dryer but still iron. A lot. Also iron jacets, coats that have not been dry-cleaned and even those that have, but get creased in wear.

As I said, i dont LIKE ironing, but I see it as a necessity - in my house. Dont like cleaning either, but needs must. Or i call the ironing lady when it gets too much, she's really good at cleaning too! Have DS asleep on my shoulder; DP is still asleep and DD is on her lap-top. Sad to face the reality that seems like an ideal time to iron. So I will use the opportunity to do some until DS wakes up. I iron for a total of about 6-8 hours a week.

MrsM, i dont have TIME for hobbies, what with all the ironing!

ruty · 21/03/2009 12:29

yes dh does his own work shirts. He wouldn't let me near them, i'd ruin them.

ruty · 21/03/2009 12:29

knickers??? Why why why?

I don't iron anything. DH irons his own work shirts, but some are ok without ironing if they have been hung up straight from the washing machine. I just buy things in fabrics that don't need ironing and hang everything straight up when damp.

I iron hama beads

MrsMattie · 21/03/2009 12:46

lol!@ironing knickers. What would happen if you wore creased knix? Would you feel dirty?

pmsl

PinkTulips · 21/03/2009 12:46

i iron nothing

i don't own an ironing board

i bought an iron in lidl once just in case but it's still in the box unused.

i have never looked at an item of clothing once it's been on the body for longer than a minute and the body heat has eased the creases and thought 'that needs ironing'

and dp wears shirts and pants to work

Horton · 21/03/2009 12:51

I iron a shirt for DH about twice a year if we have to go to a wedding or something. Also iron DD's dress for similar occasions. Nothing else ever gets ironed and you honestly can't tell. If things are on the line on a windy day, they don't end up creased anyway. And life is much much too short IMO to iron knickers!

claireybee · 21/03/2009 12:55

We iron similar things to the op, but if it doesn't look like it needs doing it doesn't get done.

I keep on top of it by making dh do it and letting him watch tv of his choice while he is doing it

mileniwmffalcon · 21/03/2009 12:58

i iron for dressmaking, sellling on ebay and perhaps dresses for parties. otherwise not at all, dp wears tshirts to work.

mileniwmffalcon · 21/03/2009 12:58

op you iron jeans?

mileniwmffalcon · 21/03/2009 12:59

and tshirts?

PinkTulips · 21/03/2009 13:18

oh, and i don't tumble dry either

Babbity · 21/03/2009 13:24

PinkTulips me neither

moaningminnie2020 · 21/03/2009 16:05

I iron my tops and T shirts, and DH's work stuff - uniforms. Nothing else unless DD has a special dress or an occasional shirt for DH.

I've tried ironing DH's Tshirts etc but he always looks like he just woke up on a park bench regardless, so I stopped bothering

scoobi6 · 21/03/2009 16:26

I don't know where my iron is.

I'd only ever iron shirts, and since dd not yet at school and neither dh or I wear shirts to work, we iron nothing. Jeans, t-shirts, my tops, cardigans etc are all fine hung up carefully to dry then folded/hung and put away.

trixymalixy · 21/03/2009 16:39

I iron as little as possible.

I iron my work trousers and DH does his own shirts and that's about it unless smething looks really bad.

Get your DH to do his own ironing, lazy sod!!
