Ceiling paint flaking under bathroom due to damp.

We live in a flat (ground floor) and the bathroom above ours seems to have a leak. It started with a little spot of damp, now it's a big half circle of flaking off paint and crumbling plaster.

Caretaker came and he reckons it's due to the dc upstairs 'splashing about' as he put it. I can't imagine abit of splashing about would cause it though or am I wrong? The mother said it's dry in her bathroom so even if they splash abit at bath time it can't cause that sort of damage surely?

OMG, that's what ours looks like, as if it might fall in

That's a good suggestion to make to the caretaker about the sealant when I call him again on Monday. He did send two men up to look but they didn't look or sound as if they had a clue what they were doing.

If no-one come to "sort-it" for you, put a few holes (with a thin screw driver) through the ceiling. This will stop a build up of water and reduce the risk of the ceiling caving in.
