I think there is mildew remover spray available from homebase etc. Then draw over manky grout with a grout whitening pen. And keep your bathroom window open more in future!

Nontoxic · 11/03/2009 20:00

Yes I use a mould removing spray from Homebase.
And there was recently a thread singing the praises of Domestos Grotbuster.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/03/2009 20:03

fab

will get some mildrew remover and a white pen

bad blonde

Would deffo recommend this - v. effective.

It removed some grim mould on our tiles when we first moved in which mildew spray from homebase wouldn't shift.

Molesworth · 11/03/2009 23:08

Grotbuster! It's fab

That mould spray BlobdieMinx linked to is the one I got from Homebase.

bananapaddlepop · 12/03/2009 07:42

yes you need the domestos grotbuster. Cheap in Tesco now too, it really works.

Sheeta · 12/03/2009 09:44

Another vote for Grotbuster. We don't have a window in our bathroom so it gets a bit black and mucky (ick) and that stuff is fab!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2009 12:45

ok

i have brought some mould remover

have sprayed and now waiting while it does its magic

I will keep you all updated

thank you

I used thin bleech in a spray bottle then got some dettol mould and mildew remover (which is ace) and use it once a fortnight as a deterrent. Also I now keep my bathroom window open on the latch all the time.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2009 14:32

hmmmmmmmm

have sprayed, left, rinsed and still have mould

will try again

i dont understand why i get mould as the window is often open

insertwittynicknameHERE · 12/03/2009 14:54

Try thin bleach in a spray bottle (I had to put it on neat ) It had an almost immediate effect on the mold.

I just left it on in the end (was gonna scrub and wash it off) but ended up having to rush DD to A&E and by the time I got back it had all dried so I didn't bother

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2009 15:01

neat bleach is on as i speak - well type -

why did you have to go to A&E?

OP posts:
insertwittynicknameHERE · 12/03/2009 15:10

We have a really old chair that we use as a computer chair and it has thin metal legs, I had sat down and then went to pull the chair up so I was sitting closer to the computer and DD had come out of nowhere (she is 15mo and can be extremely quiet when she wants to be). As I pulled the chair up she put her foot under the leg and then I sat down.

Blood everywhere, couldn't see if her toes/foot were okay, rang mum in tears and legged it to A&E.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2009 15:16

ouch

and were toes ok?

the smell of bleach/cleaniness is over powering in my house at the moment

OP posts:
insertwittynicknameHERE · 12/03/2009 16:15

Yes her foot/toes are fine thankyou, looked worse than it was.

I know what you mean about the fumes, our bathroom is downstairs at the end of the kitchen and I had to leave the dogs in the kitchen and was so worried they would be high as a kite when I got back lol.

JohnnyTwoHats · 12/03/2009 16:16

Domestos Grotbuster. And then keep it really well ventilated.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2009 16:31

Domestos Grotbuster is not working

i must have a really grotty bathroom

OP posts:
JohnnyTwoHats · 12/03/2009 16:35

how long did you leave it on for?

wideratthehips · 12/03/2009 16:51

i have tried the grot buster...on mine it seems to be 'bleaching' the mould...ie its now a lighter colour of black but still there!

mine is in the shower...down at the bottom behind the shower door when its open so its difficult to clean....i now have grey grouting!

JohnnyTwoHats · 12/03/2009 16:55

I put it on, left it overnight then brushed with toothbrush when i went in the shower.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2009 17:57

will try again and leave overnight

wideratthehips-same here - now a greyish colour

will update you all tomorrow
