Hurrah! it is time to hang washing out again instead of having it lying all over my radiators. But boo! Line is already sagging and in danger of dropping jeans into the lawn. Where do you buy one of those sticks that your mother/ granny used to have that pushes the line up high so washing stays off the floor. Thanks a lot!

A metal one in a DIY store, for a hazel one go to the woods armed with a bow saw!

You can get one of those prop type things in Argos - just look in the section that sells the clothes lines. They are great, they are not expensive - under £10.

wilkinsons sell them for £2.99.

Prop! That is the word I was after, thank you Concepta it was driving me round the twist! And to everyone - love the idea of heading off to the woods with a saw but suspect I will be hitting Wilkinson's for a bargain instead. Cheers for that

my nextdoor neighbour - an elderly lady- introduced herself to me several years ago- a newlywed clueless homeowner - by poking the gift of a wooden prop over the fence. What an icebreaker!!

(unfortunately it weighs a ton has been slung down side of shed in case it causes injury to dc's but at the time it was a godsend)

i made mine from a remnant plastic pipe with aid of hacksaw.

I have two, don't know why but i can't seem to find one tall enough...... I used to have one of those round washing line things, changed last year to a tradional one which needs a prop. Bought two props but they just don't get the washing up and flapping in the wind

Blossom, in that case I would recommend a pulley system for your washing line - let it down to put on laundry and then hoik it up.

We had this at our old house and it worked a treat, it didn't take long to sort out either.

Marmaduke, Helium, thanks for that, think thats what i will have to do then. Did you get yours from Bettaware marmaduke?

wideratthehips · 12/03/2009 16:53
