Leaving washing out overnight?

Hello. Through the winter I have been doing my washing in the evening which I much prefer as I have no DD around and can hang up as soon as the load has finshed and leave it hanging everywhere overnight. However now, it is actually nice outside and is sunny etc so want to get it outside really, especially my nappies as it makes them lovely and bright white.

I was thinking about hanging it up outside in the evening, so it stays out overnight and gets the sun first thing in the morning? Then get it in early evening when it starts to get dark?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this? I feel a bit odd about it, like they wouldn't be as clean but I have no idea why?

Rainwater is apparently very good for softening clothes. I keep finding my nappies go crunchy and the advice I have been given is to leave them out in the rain! I am yet to try this though.

I always do this. I bung a wash on whenever I think of it, and hang it outside as long as it's not raining. Then I often forget about it or can't be arsed to bring it in, so it can stay up to 3 days out there. I tell myself it's great for airing and softening it!

I don't hang my washing out in the evening. Not a conscious decision it just doesn't happen. However have been known to not get the washing in on time and it has started to get damp so I have left it rather than get it in and put it back out the next day. An x friend of mine called me a 'slut' for this & said that people who leave their laundry out over night are 'rough' She never used a washing line and always used a tumble drier I had an opinion on this but kept it to myself

Don't worry about it. Whatever makes your life work

I always do the washing overnight but had never thought of hanging it out. My mum disapproves (like winnie's friend, but without the language, just a raised eyebrow...)

I think MN has liberated me and I'll start hanging it out in the evening!

I always do it the summer,so after a couple of hour of sun in the morning i can bring it in and then we can enjoy the garden without washing hanging all over the place and the kids can get in the pool without splashing my washing.
i dont quite get it when people say the washing is spoiled if its rained on.You can drink rain water but it no clean enough for your clothes !!!!!
