Do you have a plunger?

fearofcaves · 03/03/2009 06:46

Am afraid the only way we manage to unblock our toilet when this happens is to pull on the rubber gloves and get your hands in there...sorry!

rubber gloves and a plunger

Go to video jug.com and search unblocked toilet. Sorry i can't post links on iPhone!

May I suggest you start buying your loo roll from a stationery supplier like Staples? You can get the stuff which only gives a sheet at a time - it takes a really long time to block the loo with that stuff and you get bored and give up (if you are 10 anyway!)

But in answer to your question - go to the DIY store and get some caustic soda to dissolve the blockage if sticking your hand down and pulling it out doesn't work.

Make you DS put on gloves and stick his hand down the toilet to unblock it. He's been warned, he should pay the price

Water thrown with force from a bucket into the bowl is a good method too though.

A large plunger will work very well, hands in if that fails, caustic soda or if it is just blocked round the bend you could try opening up a wire coat hanger into a long thin rod and poking that carefully round the bend. Bend the end of the wire over into a little hook with a pair of pliers and you should be able to hook stuff out with it.

I have a special flexible steel tool on a reel that does it but a wire coat hanger will go a long way.

Def. a plunger.

I had to plunge last night and it worked a treat AND was sooo satisfying.

does anyone else think that ABetaDad is one of those people you'd just LOVE to have as a neighbour, got hits and tips on anything DIY related

Funny thing is that I never really get to do much DIY or gardening in my home because our Landlord has a team of men who come and do everything for us.
