How do i get my bath sparkly clean?

It's a cream plastic type bath, and for some reason even though it's cleaned pretty regularly a tide mark type layer of yuck has built up around the sides. It comes of if i scape it with a nail, but was trying to clean it with some ecover spray and an old nylon shower puff and this made no difference. Anyone got a magic solution?

Ecover is shit.

YOu want Bath Power, or Cif cream, leave it on for a few minutes and then scrub with a bath cleaning sponge - looks like a pan scrubber on one side and sponge on the other.

Also, it may be limescale, in which case blast it with Viakal first.

You can rinse off the Viakal first or - for that hygenic high - dance with death and combine your cleaning products.

It sounds greasy so a kitchen anti-grease job might help too.

Limelight. Squirt it all around the sides and then use a scrubbing brush. You won't need to rub too hard and it'll come up a treat.

Flamesparrow · 21/02/2009 12:10

mr muscle bathroom and a limescale remover for the taps etc

pud1 · 21/02/2009 12:33

never tried it but have read that filling it with wash powder and water and leaving overnight works wonders

Stinkyfeet · 21/02/2009 12:36

I use Brillo pads - but check a small area first to make sure they don't scratch the surface.

ScorpiowithabigS · 21/02/2009 12:37

Cif bathroom mouse, and domestos thick gel grotbuster. Magical.

FabioTheScaredyCat · 21/02/2009 12:38

Brillo pads will knacker a plastic bath.
Fuck it and start taking showers.
Or move houes.

FabioTheScaredyCat · 21/02/2009 12:39

I want a bathroom mouse.
Nom nom nom.

Stinkyfeet · 21/02/2009 12:40

Ah, then, no don't use Brillo pads!

ScorpiowithabigS · 21/02/2009 12:41

sounds fun, doesn't it.

BonsoirAnna · 21/02/2009 12:45

Fill your bath with very hot water and lots of Ariel (or any good laundry detergent) and leave to soak over night, then rub off the tide mark with an e-cloth. This way you won't scratch your bath.

happy2bme · 21/02/2009 21:30

Thank you all for your help. I'll put some of your suggestions to the test tomorrow!

Please don't mix cleaning products unless you understand the chemistry - you can quite literally dice with death by generating (amongst other things) neat chlorine gas, which will strip the lining out of your lungs very quickly.

Have you tried an e-cloth?

Fimbo · 22/02/2009 13:37

Lidl's W5 Product for limescale works a treat on tide marks.

southeastastra · 22/02/2009 13:38

i mixed bleach with flash once, it went a weird colour and get me a banging head

foxinsocks · 22/02/2009 13:39

I find not letting men or boys bath helps

failing that, the CIF bathroom stuff and the green limescale spray (think it's dettol that make it). V good stuff.

morningpaper · 22/02/2009 13:44

lol Tangle good point

My brother had to go to hospital about 3 years ago after mixing cleaning products and removing half his lungs

bit embarassing when you are nearly 50
