Holla all

Well I get my new bed today, so must get the old bed down and all the shoes from under it, hoover and then sort the bedroom

But firstly I need to feed the mini's and also dress them

I am dressed and the washer is on, breakfast is cooling too

I had a bath last night and far too much baileys so went to bed drunk and DH was not amused to say the least

I will make it up to him tonight - need to christen the new bed - that is if I can keep a child out of it for long enough

Back soon with my full days list

Morning all
mad thanks for thread. Hope youre not suffering too much today from your Baileys LOL. Good luck with the new bed - bet you'll love it!

Popping in briefly. Sorry I didn't get on yesterday.
DH went to Ireland last night. He had to drive down to B'ham airport to try and get on last plane at 9.25. He managed to get on thankfully. Was all very last minute - lots of phonecalls to and from Ireland yesterday about FIL. He is having surgery today which has some significant risks attached. It is more risky than last time as FIL is in weakened state from chemo and there are more tumours to remove. So DH needed to go and see him before surgery.Waiting for Dh to ring later to see how all is going...
Luckily DH is one of 7 - so he has lots of brothers and sisters all in Ireland to be with his Mum ( although his youngest brother is only 14...) He also has lots of Aunts and Uncles over there so plenty of support for his Mum.

Have done some sorting today - really just need to keep DC's all entertained....

Have finished painting lounge though and had new carpet fitted yesterday so that looks much better....

Need to:
Entertain 6 kids and plan something for next couple of days on my own with them all LOL
LOTS of washing catch up
Hoover upstairs
Mop floors
Bathrooms need attention

.....not sure how much I'll get done... we'll see.

May BBl - hope you are all having good half terms so far

wendyredredrobin · 19/02/2009 08:56

Hi Mad hope you have a good day and that your bed arrives without a problem!
and Galen keep us posted on your FIL it's a distressing time for you all. ARe some of your children aware of what it happening and affected? Do they know their Grandad well? Glad your lounge is done - what colour is your new carpet? Have a good couple of days and be kind to yourself and your flying with six children to keep happy that's the most important thing.

Well did I tell you about my trip to the hospital on Monday with DD's finger? When they took the bandage off (it looks foul underneath ugh) there was a large lump of skin where it shouldn't have been. Over-granulation they called it, apparently it's where the body has healed too quickly and effectively. So we were sent to a different department where she had to have some silver nitrate painted on it to make it stop. It's never simple! And she is SO good the whole time, just sits still and calm and lets them do whatever they like to her finger with tweezers, scissors, little blades ... she is just wonderful. She's only 2 and 3 months! I am so proud of her. All the nurses say they have never seen anything like it and the nurse in Dressings said she wouldn't normally be able to paint the silver nitrate on a little one they'd be kicking and screaming. Bless her.

We had a busy long day yesterday at Chester Zoo - very fab. DH went to the pub last night (a rarity) and came back at midnight and I hadn't managed to go to sleep so we had a late night. Plus we woke to the sound of the binmen at 7.30 and hadn't put our paper recycling bin out oops!

Done
Breakfast and washing up
DH is playing with chidlren
Washer on

To do
Outing today
Mop kitchen floor (broken a glass!)
Airer sort out and reload it
Vacuuming
Bathroom needs attention
Visit my friend to collect her essay to look at
What's for lunch and dinner?
A birthday card to write and send
Lots of letters to write
Make oatcakes

Hi to all who follow!

swanriver · 19/02/2009 09:01

Best of luck with FIL surgery.

Well done with new carpet!

When you have finished entertaining 6 children will you tell us how you managed?

My children are all watching telly atm. Ds1 "Trapped" on cbbc, Ds2 is playing ninds, and dd is watching a veryold video of Pocahontas upstairs by herself. Hope I am not the only one. Feeling a bit ill so have taken some pills which are making me woozy.

Have unloaded dw and had a nice cup of coffee with dh before he went to work.
Children have had breakfast except for Pocahontas.

swanriver · 19/02/2009 09:07

Wendy, what did you think as English teacher about Andrew Motion saying school dcs should read some Bible or know bible stories to understand references in English Lit (not for religious reasons)? I ws looking myself, and immediately amazed by all I hadn't read esp in Old Test. Dh said papers now making whoha that he's a creatonist.

sagacious · 19/02/2009 09:12

swanriver · 19/02/2009 09:41

off now to club, (crazy hairstyle day) ds2 wants another free morning, feeling too woozy to drive, so will have to take bus but spoilt dcs no doubt will have tantrum...

Now to switch off everythign, and switch on brain.

My other DD is nearly 2 1/4 so cant write but could send pics to your youngest. You know their names dont you? I'll email you a link to my facebook photos so they can see who they'd be writing to. fancy it?

wendyredredrobin · 19/02/2009 11:11

Swan as an English teacher I completely agree him! It's just like studying anything, you need to know its context, isn't it? So, must pre-20th century writers were steeped in the Bible as was society at the time and hence it was a very important source of influence for those writers and their work. How can we understand these texts without their (religious) context. When I did my degree were had to read the Bible as pre reading in the summer, and it was amazing how much light it shed on my A level texts (that I'd already been examined on!) When I teach Literature GCSE and A level I always include relevant links to Biblical stories etc which link to the text I'm teaching. It is ridiculous of anyone to say it makes him Creationist: he is simply pointing out the obvious! Rant over!

Ruby
I'm sure you're not alone! I don't think that taking them out somewhere would seem like a reward - and so what if it did if it makes your life better? Weather is ok here, can you go somewhere open and make them run around a bit not in a confined place? I can't remember their ages, sorry. Can you pack a picnic perhaps even if you have to eat it in the car? When my two (only little, 4 and 2) have cabin fever I cart them off to the local Sculpture park which is big and has things to look at, or just the local lake which we walk or bike round. I find the openness calms them down but then I have experience of older ones.

EustaciaVye · 19/02/2009 11:15

Ruby - you should have email with links to photos.

Great. Glad you got them ok. Curious about your home now - I am sure it is lovely. Your DDs should be able to get a good idea about mine from the blog as there is quite a bit on there. I wont mention to my DDs in case this idea ends in disaster, however I do know that if DD1 got a 'real' letter in the post she would probably wet herself with excitement

EustaciaVye · 19/02/2009 11:40
swanriver · 19/02/2009 13:20

had another relaxing morning with my little companion, bookshop cafe flwerstall etc only to end in disaster as my brain is completely swtiched off by codeine, no watch, forgot mobile and kept looking at high street clock which accidentlally was an hour slow, so ended up picking ds1 and dd from club 30 mins late, thinking I was extremely early. So mortified, as 70 year club leader was trying to take them home in her car. Children not at all worried but I felt so out of it and useless. Anyway got home safely on bus (terrible traffic jam so bus turned out superior speedy method) and now need to make them some sandwiches.

Two Children coming round this afternoon. Need to morph into calm responsible mother.

Ruby hw are you now or how are they now?

Wolfcub · 19/02/2009 14:19

grouchyoscar · 19/02/2009 16:35

Hello everyone

Very very odd day today. Well, not odd but I keep getting awful headaches, DH and Ds started the day as they finished it and...

Had to take Ed for an assesment today with the community Pead and, it's official, he has dyspraxia. He's highly intelligent but he is very easily distracted and works to his own agenda. Plus he figets constantly either on a physical or mental level. Iknew he was different, only the nursery head would listen to me. The Dr today will get the wheels moving to get occupational therapists involved and him moved onto a Schools Action Plus and an Individual Education Plan. So that's Ed sorted, now what about DH?

Off to muck out the cat cellar. Bye bye

galen · 19/02/2009 18:04

Evening all
mad hope your beds arrived!
wendy what a brave little thing your Dd is. Hope her finger is soon fully healed
ruby hope your day improved. For such little beings children can caus e alot of stress LOL
grouchy glad you got somewhere with Ed's assessment.Hope he gets tyhe support he needs now.
swan your morning sounds lovely till the pick up LOL Hope you had a clm afternoon and are feeling better
EV sag wolf waves hello!

Thanks for all your thoughts for FIL
Day didnt turn out too bad here.
Went to shops this am , got new lunchboxes for Dc, and cheapy sticker and magic painting books which kept them occupied for a bit when we got in!
Moods started to fray this afternoon so they were all bundled into wellies and we went for a long , muddy walk which was great. All ina better mood after that!
Managed to catch up with washing and mop 2 out of 3 floors too so quite pleased with that.
Now to put littlies to bed, bit of tidying, maybe bake if I have energy, then reading and early night.

Still haven't heard from DH - so anxious to know how things have gone....

Will see you all tomorrow.

swanriver · 19/02/2009 18:31

I'm glad you have a diagnosis Grouchy. It's a relief to know it is the way they are wired not anything one is doing wrong. I think ds1 has dyspraxic tendencies, but ironically because he is borderline, he will never get diagnosed (it will be put down to maternal neurosis) and he will always be told off for being bad presentation etc. He has so many lovely aspects to his character that many children who are not dyspraxic will never have.

Done
Watched some High School Musical with dd & ds1
Ds2 listened to Horrid Henry Story tapes
Bit of painting with dd
Rubbish sorted and taken outside
Children to the park for a long runaround and twins bicycling.
Ricepudding in oven
Cousin and family to Sunday lunch arranged
Tidied up some bags in hall

Not done
ironing
primroses
vikings
vp
hoovering
the list is endless really but...

wendyredredrobin · 19/02/2009 19:16

Hello
swan hope the codeine is out of your system and you are back to normal
Mad how's the bed?
grouchy glad you have diagnosis in my experience as a teacher dyspraxia doesn't always hold children back. One of my best students ever got full marks on his English Lit A level [preen emoticon] then a first at Cambridge and was severely dyspraxic.
galen hope news on FIL is ok
Ruby hope day got better
gotta go, bathtime
