Baking trays - are good ones worth the extra money? any recommendations?

I have just binned my smallest baking tray
No idea where it came from, perhaps Sains?

Are cheap trays a false economy? Or is it just cos I buy nonstick?
If I buy a £20 one will it last and last?
Any recommendations?
TIA

You're right, they don't go in the dishwasher, but they're dead easy to wash up. (And I should know, I do all the washing up in our house )

All mine are fancy ones now as the cheap ones got thrown away quickly

I got them from our local hardware shop - masterclass I think, not too expensive

PestoBlizzardMonster · 08/02/2009 20:06

BTW, you can get them from Lakeland.

KatyMac · 08/02/2009 20:06

I get the ones like school diner ones

Yurtgirl · 08/02/2009 20:07

lots of different sizes available

PestoBlizzardMonster · 08/02/2009 20:26

We have got

this one

this is the best price we could find anywhere for it too.

moocowme · 08/02/2009 21:08

they last longer if you don't put them in the dishwasher. a bit of hot soapy water if you can straight after finishing using them.

I have recently invested in some more expensive ones and can't believe how fab they are
I don't know why I didn't do it earlier.

EldonAve · 09/02/2009 11:09

I don't do non stick anymore, enamel is the way forward.

My oldest enamel one is 7 years old & as good as new.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/02/2009 11:54

I've had a La Forme one which has lasted for donkeys years, and recently bought some small lakeland ones which I'm very happy with so far.

lilolilmanchester · 09/02/2009 12:10

I buy a lot of my bakeware from TKMaxx, no particular brand, just buy something that seems heavy and solid and haven't been let down yet (and usually less than £10)

EldonAve · 09/02/2009 12:22

where can you get enamel ones? just looked on lakeland but didn't see any

Eldonave, I've always bought mine in tesco/waitrose. Like this but 2/3rds of the price

SoMuchToBits · 09/02/2009 13:34

Mermaid (hard-anodised) ones are excellent. You can buy some of them from Lakeland. Expensive but good. Agaim they are not supposed to be dishwashed, but wash fairly esily I find.

ohdearwhatamess · 09/02/2009 13:46

We've got this, and same range in other sizes, and they are fantastic. Don't buckle or scratch, and clean really easily.

Cheap trays a false economy ime.
