When a wet carpet cleaner, 1001 and persil non-bio doesn't work.

List yours for me to try.

TIA.

You can buy better carpet shampoos than 1001. If I could remember the name of the one I use (costs about £10, lasts forever, gets rid of pretty much everything - our sitting room carpet is 1980s and was vile when we moved in) I would tell you but I can't and am BF just now so will let you know later.

TheProvincialLady · 04/02/2009 11:09

Any idea what the stains are BTW?

ZoeC · 04/02/2009 11:10

The best I found is a spray foam stuff, I got in from B&Q. It was the only one they did, would have to have a rummage to get the name though. It was very good!

White Wizard for smallish stains. This stuff is magic. Used it to remove bike oil from our new carpet (dh) and you can't see any sign of the stain.

NAB09 · 04/02/2009 11:30

Milk and water I think.

White wizard hasn't worked.

The stuff we use is HG carpet cleaner - it looks a bit industrial but really works. Milk is a bugger to get out though. Has it gone black? We had loads of little milk splashes on our rug and I'm afraid we threw it away.

NAB09 · 05/02/2009 12:32

Using persil non bio and warm water has helped a bit.

Not black, it just looks like the carpet is wet.

Maybe a bio powder might work then?

Flier · 05/02/2009 13:04

watching this with interest as our cream carpet also has juice and milk stains on it

littlerach · 05/02/2009 13:13

Watching withinterest now.

PS I ma going to try hiring the cleaner from B&Q next week I htink. That may work.

NAB09 · 05/02/2009 13:15

Ooh, shall also be watching with interest. I had my (very old) carpet professionally steam cleaned yesterday and it still hasn't got rid of the stains from when ds took a whole carton of apple juice from the fridge and sprayed it over the floor, and my friend. Spills I can manage but this was little drops everywhere and now the carpet is covered in little black spots.

Tried myself with my usual failsafe which is soda water but just too big an area. Soda water does work magnificently well though usually - pour loads on, get carpet really wet then blot, blot and blot till dry. Takes a while but because the bubbles lift the gubbins out it does work. I find most carpet shampoos leave a residue which then attracts more dirt so would be very interested to see if anyone knows one that doesn't.

dsrplus8 · 05/02/2009 13:21

steam cleaner and the spot remover you get from rug doctor! NEVER FAILS

dsrplus8 · 05/02/2009 13:23

or try masterchem! that takes glue off ,so milk /juice/ usual house spilliages should be no problem!

Flier · 05/02/2009 13:38

sodawater added to this weeks shopping list.........
