Came accross soda crystals when doing the Asda online shop.

What are they? Are they good? Are they more eco than chemical products?

Don't know anything so any info would be great!

My friend gave me some and I did what expat said she did which was to replace 1 scoop of washing powder with them, but still use 1 scoop of powder - my wash came out the same so that was a saving.
The back of the pack also has suggestions for lots of cleaning you can do with them.
They are a natural product that have been around for ever, but I don't know about eco credentials.

I use them in every wash and they get rid of most stains easily.

Very good at it!

Well I have bought some but haven't used it. It says it can be used as fabric conditioner in the fabric conditioner bit?

I soak muddy footy kit in it on a Sunday afternoon before washing. Brings them up better than just powder ever would! & means I get the kit every week so my oh doesn't pay to play or train with the team so saves me money on that as well as expensive stain removers

They get most stains out in the wash but any stubborn ones, or dried/washed in stains usually come out after an overnight soak in diluted soda crystals

Never used them as fabric conditioner though, may be worth an experiment with my next load

Are they suitable with coloured clothes, or just whites?

I used them in the bathroom sink when it was blocked - v good.

lucysmam · 01/02/2009 11:26

I use them on everything littlerach, do the same job so far as I can see

I use soda crystals solution to clean my cooker, worktops and kitchen and bathroom floors - utterly fantastic - degreases really well and the floors come up lovely and clean. CHEAP too which is always good

I put a scoop in with each wash too - helps with stain removal and also we live in a hard water area and it softens the water too.

Truly a miracle product imvho

Use them in every wash, replacing 1 washing tab with a scoop

Use it in the dishwasher too

Use it to clean the floors, brings stone floors up ever so clean.

Use it to clean very greasy areas (tiles behind cooker in a kitchen without a cooker hood)

4 parts Bicarb to 1 part crystals makes a good scouring paste when applied with a damp cloth and elbow grease

Cleans UPVC back to white

and more tips n info here

So are they more Eco than most commercial products? Are they natural or what? Sorry to be dumb!

I think they're natural, or at least more so than commercial stuff
