DS2 is mad about cooking.

Has split a mixture of water and dried herbs (possibly with milk in) on the carpet. DH has used the carpet cleaner on it several times and is hasn't worked. It just looks like a wet patch on the carpet, ie is darker than the carpet colour, but it needs to go.

Doesn't go with the red wine stains after DH knocked his glass over last week.

Help.

this was me under a temporary name

Still not off but the persil non bio is the only one out of that and 1001 that has had any improvement.

Still hoping.....

You can buy borax from Tesco

pamplemousse · 08/02/2009 20:00

Hmm having reread this I am in agreement with wethree... Hire a carpet cleaner I got a whole tin of paint out my carpet with one too! I secretly want one they are so good. Although I don't use the chemicals, just use water. Maybe try that? It costs about 25 quid for 24 hours iirc. I went round my house after having removed all traces of the paint and did anything else which looked grubby, its great!!

NAB09 · 08/02/2009 20:07

We have a carpet cleaner and it hasn't worked.

MrsPurple · 08/02/2009 20:15

white wine sometimes counteracts spillages.

or oxyfoam

Also thinking maybe herbs had bit of grease in them? So could re wetput down talc to soak up and grease proof paper over it.

Will have a quick look in reader digest bible (never used before so gives me opportunity to use)

MrsPurple · 08/02/2009 20:28

what is carpet made of?

milk stains advise is to use glycerine and warm water, brush lightly and wash carpet normally????

Kim and Aggie suggest bringing stain to surface with soda water (or half a denture tablet). Then blot away, never scrub.

Once spill contained use a little foam from wash up liquid and water and use a soft brush (don't scrub).

Blot off excess foam with clean white towel. tread on towel with both feet to squeeze excess moisture from carpet.

I must sound sad, but both books are xmas pressies from mum, which have never been used till now.

Not sure what the carpet is made of. Will ask DH later and send him out for supplies to try and clean it. It is looking a bit better having done the persil non bio powder but there is a bigger area now that is a slightly different colour to the ret of the carpet. We used to have a wooden floor....

MrsPurple · 09/02/2009 09:30

ah the joys of the wooden floor. We've got original paraquet downstairs, great for spills but always harbours dust under sofas, so end up spring cleaning everytime I hoover.

Let me know how you get on. sat here drooling over lovely chocolate

NAB09 · 09/02/2009 11:25

We got rid of the wooden floor when we had DD as we didn't want her hurting herself when she started to crawl and walk. Will get this stain out if it kills me!

MrsPurple · 09/02/2009 21:39

hi NAB09 have you had any joy?
