i seem to have gathered quite a collection of family pics around my living room, theyre all pics i want to keep on view, ie; graduations, formals, and professional family pics. the only thing is, none of the frames are matching and its starting to look a bit cluttered. any suggestions what i can do to make them look better displayed? i'd rather not get rid

I have some of mine in a collage on he kitchen door everyone says how nice it looks.

My friend has a massive clip frame with loads in which looks really good too.

btw, im purposely not buying matching frames a) because i cant afford it and;
b) because i know i'll eventually get more pics and wont have enough frames.

we have a fabric-covered board that we stick a rotating selection on with double-sided tape

or hang all the (non-matching) frames on the wall and make a feature of them - lay them out on the floor first to get the best arrangement
at least it'll get rid of the clutter from the surfaces

I have a huge collage from photobox of all the dd's with all immeadiate family (nannys, grandads, great grandparents etc and that is in a clip frame in my porch and I have to be ruthless and replace pics in the lounge (have one of us on our wedding dat, 4 of the dd's and a frame with 3 seperate pictures with the dd's and their cousins) then have 5 frames going up the stairs and 4 on dining room wall and 4 on the dresser but have a 'wall' of photos in the playroom (in those frames where you can fit 3 or 4 pictures in them) and thats my favourite place in the house

non matching frames are the best kind. You want it to look like snapshots of time from different years of your life so the frames not matching is a good thing. Stay with me here....

What you need to do is create a picture wall and arrange them in a sort of random order. The stairway is a good place for this and it's usually somewhere that you can see the pictures clearly without having to peer past furniture.

have a look here

If you don't have the space you could always scan them all and get a digital frame to loop them.

My friends have a nice display of lots of photos in intentionally different frames all grouped together. It looks really cool.

breaghsmum · 27/01/2009 12:55

thanks all, you know i never actually considered putting them all up together on the wall, but that sounds like a plan. shall go and arrange now.
