Returned from school with everyone crying despite snacks, love and determination. Luckily met another mother whose children were also kicking and squalling so we both felt better . Dd ws very upset at cancelled visit from her friend and Ds1 had been rude in class and had taken Lord's name in vain. Ds2 however in good mood. His playdate is about to turn up.
Dd is still crying, and now I've had to put on telly valium to cheer everyone up but Ds1 is not going to Cubs as a sanction (I'm secretly relieved).

Anyway now dd seems to be playing with ds2's friend..

Bella, office work definitely counts.

TO DO
Homework everyone
Vp x 2
Move cupboard back
Put clothes back in it
hoover rest of room

Leftover fishpie for tea
Dh lentil and carrot soup later
continue with boxroom.

Zone cleaning. ornaments already culled
Dust hi-fi to do

swanriver · 26/01/2009 16:17

Scatty, it was awful, I had to resurrect buggy in the end when dd was 4-5. Someone said to me just don't worry or care what anyone thinks. And then I had to carry her to school for a short tiring phase. Sometimes I feel I need a small wheelbarrow to get everyone home.

scattyspice · 26/01/2009 16:27

Phew, not just us then. Ruby, she is totally unable/unwilling to ride a bike. Luckily she is very small for her age, so doesn't look odd sitting in a buggy (yet). I don't want to use the car all the time as walking is good for ds (and me).

TheMadHouse · 26/01/2009 16:35

Scatty What about a trike with a parent handle? Or just bung her in the buggy, strap her in and go!!!

I had a moment on Sat - DS2 was in buggy and asked DS1 to let him oput, so he opened the staps and did It takes me all my time to open the straps.

Anyway

New reward chart drawn with DS1
30 mins running outside up and down playing tig in the cold
Hot chocolates made and dispensed
Mat brought in
Sitting room blinds and windows cleaned

My menu planning has failed me, as DH threw away my list and for the life of me I can not remember what we were due to have

Hello everyone! Thank you for thread Mad.

Just popping in quickly as another emergency ward 10 situation has put a slight dent in the baby-step routine here in the Counting household - dd went down with vomiting bug on Friday night and she's still at home although she's getting better now.

So although I've done an unplanned cloakroom, kitchen, bathroom and laundry scrub down (with Dettol) and washed loads of bed linen which had been puked upon - not much else has been done - the main rooms have lost their new-found decluttered look and I have an ironing pile the size of Mont Blanc ...sigh ...

Lol at your "wheelbarrow" Swan ...and love your "snacks, love and determination" strategy ...

How do all

Insomnia again last night. More Discovery channel watching Some cracking food ideas. I'm watching this and yesterday's threads and will be nagging you for recipes

Just had chance to get some laptop time, I've been out all day, a course this morning and some community work this afternoon.

Also DONE

Morning routines (Cept DW empty as it didn't run last night
Holistic Therapy Course
Home
Lunch
Chase up NHS info
Back to school
Community stuff
Collect Ed and go to library
Swap book

Make tomorrows lunches
Help Ed with his spellings

Ed is vegging out in front of a Leap Frog DVD so I can't complain really, it's complex words and he wanted it so....

All my leg joints are in pain and I have a nasty headache (whine, whine, whine). At least DH will make a family tea

I get very strict with T's and things too. I am a snob, or at least used to be. My father was very strict and they used to call me toffee nose at school, until I grew breasts and then it was toffee tits

evening all mad I'm loving toffee tits that's fantastic, much more original than any of the crappy names I had at school, yours must have had a better class of arsehole

done
picked up ds
made samosas
put some pots away
washed up some more pots
binned various food items
blitzed bread to crumbs for tomorrow's tea

have given up now, my back is screaming and i've had a raging headache all day, it's back to back food tv and an early night with book for me I think

RECIPE(s) to follow

Wolfcub · 26/01/2009 20:21

SAMOSAS

Rachel Allen

(for veggie version replace lamb with diced boiled potato)

2bsp sunflower/olive oil
300g finely chopped/minced lamb
1 onion diced
1tsp ground cumin
1tsp ground coriander
salt and pepper
100g fresh or frozen peas
1tbsp chopped fresh coriander
5 sheets of filo pastry
1 beaten egg

heat sunflower oil in frying pan. Fry lamb, onion and ground spices (I added half a chilli but I think it still needs more spice). Season and cook for 10 mins until lamb is just cooked and juices have evaporated. Add peas and stir in, add chopped coriander and remove from heat. Allow to cool slightly and season to taste.

Slice filo sheets into 4 (to give rectangles) and keep moist in a damp teatowel.

Lay a sheet of filo in front of you, put a tbsp of lamb mixture at the edge closest to you. Roll end of pastry over once so that lamb is covered. Fold in both long sides. Roll over and over (to create triangles) brush finishing edge with beaten egg and fold over to seal. Place on baking tray and brush with beated egg. Repeat until all pastry/lamb is used.

If you like they can now be chilled in the fridge for rest of day until ready to cook.

bake in preheated oven at 220 c (conventional) for 10-12 mins until golden

Wolfcub · 26/01/2009 20:28

Mediterranean Pasta Soup

Rachel Allen

(not tried this one yet but it looks lovely)

2tbsp olive oil
9oz chorizo chopped into 1/2 in chunks
1 large onion peeled and chopped
4 large garlic cloves peeled and crushed
2 400g tins of chopped toms
1 1/2 pints chicken stock
2 tbsp chopped herbs of your choice
optional pinch of sugar
9oz of Orzo or Fusili
5oz shredded spinach or whole baby spinach leaves

serve with parmesan and a little green pesto

heat oil in large saucepan, cook chorizo for 2 mins.
Add onion and garlic and season, sweat over gentle heat for 7-8 mins until soft. Add toms, stock and herbs, season with salt, pepper and sugar if necessary and simmer with lid on for 10 minutes until toms are soft.
Add pasta and simmer for another 6-10 mins stirring often until pasta is cooked. Drop in the spinach and cook for 1 min until spinach is wilted. SErve with some finely grated parmesan and a drizzle of pesto if liked.

Wolfcub · 26/01/2009 20:31

risotto

I make this with a variety of different ingredients and flavours, sometimes with mushrooms and toms, this month its porcini and thyme. As long as liquid volume is the same it doesn't really matter what you put in it.

It's not quite as nice as a stove top risotto but it does make for an easier weeknight meal if you are trying to do other things at the same time.

Wolfcub · 26/01/2009 20:35
