Thanks breadmakers, I will try out both methods.

We have just had our usual Sunday row where one parent complains the other didn't handle a dc in right way. Feel very upset walked round block bought lots of heavy groceries, thumped home, shoved themin cupboard and feel a bit better for emotional outburst etc. Dh has done all the right things today, but somehow always manages to SAY the wrong thing to me. He has now put the kids in front of telly again to get his own back on me I suppose I should laugh at our childish skirmishes. Anyway, now he is looking after kids for rest of day at his own request, and I am going to go upstairs and read my book.

Anyway no need for advice ladies, I know exactly where I'm going wrong.

Otherwise, kids are fine and we went to a lovely lovely film called Madagascar 2 which was fantastic, loved music and everything.

And I feel better NOW after my outburst.

Wow, at hallpainting, and hello Starbear and Spider. Birds, are there any cats to scare them? Sometimes the reason they don't linger.

There I am giving advice already. Must stop meddling.

grouchyoscar · 25/01/2009 17:08

Poor Wolf sounds like you've had a busy few days.
Swan my dh is the same with his tactlessness when he's an absolute gem really
Hi all
Late night last night, but got up at 9.15 due to dc having a lie in til 8 am (ds is 4 and likes to have the run of the house and play with his toys!) Early tonight.
My parents back from holiday (yay!) so they came for tea tonight. Caramelised onion tart, lots of veg and oven cooked potatoes in wedges - yummy! Been busy again today cooking but also gave the hall a deep clean - walls, skirting boards etc all scrubbed - it looks fab! so that's living room and hall deep cleaned this weekend. Will do bedroom whilst you're all doing living room this week, and think I'll carry on putting away all the stuff I've removed from the living room - that'll take all week!
Off out tonight to help my friend with her A Level English (my good deed for the week)
See you all tomorrow

Wolfcub · 25/01/2009 20:08

Evening all

Boys are in bed, that was hard work.
S&S conservatory
Washer on
Ironing done and away
Read some of my book
Curtain pole put back up at door
Curtain hung in hall

So hall and entrance painted, woodwork all wiped, glasswork clean, photo frames wiped and put back up, mirror cleaned and light fitting taken down and cleaned.

I need to make a start on the stash and dash room, so that DH can dorate it - last room in the house to be done, but if he is working from home suring recouperation he needs a nice room.

I am emtally and physically tired, think I am coming down with something.

Wolfcub · 25/01/2009 21:34

Right, I have a couple of bits in the freezer but I reckon that this is what I would have to buy to make februarys list. This is from tescos but I would actually buy from morrisons so would probably save a bit more and nappies would be from lidl so that would save some too. If you add in maybe £20 -25 quid extra for top ups and weekend lunch sandwiches and allowing for the things I had to substitue because tescos didn't have exactly what I want I reckon that'd be reasonably accurate. So call it £250 for the month. (If I can stick to that I will be seriously pleased with myself.

I am bowled over by your list Wolfcub. (slinks away into undergrowth).

It's also very good because it allows for easy meals on some nights.

Maybe dh an I would never argue again if such a document was pinned up in our kitchen.

Wolfcub · 25/01/2009 22:04

swan it's partly really a selfish thing, I tend to have to go to the supermarket on my own as dp does not drive and we get home from work late so it's unfair to drag ds round (and I don't like wasting my weekend in the supermarket). I used to plan weekly but I'm hoping that planning monthly means that I can do one big shop once a month and then just a couple of quick ten minute nips down to the local tesco rather than spending an hour in morrisons once a week, I am also trying to reduce out HUGE overdraft.

OP posts:
dylsmum1998 · 25/01/2009 22:21

wolfcub i like the idea of not shopping weekly. was thinking this to myself as i wandered around asda child free earlier. usually take 2dc with me and by all sorts, get stressed etc etc.
am thinking of shopping fortnightly, need to reorganise my kitchen to facilitate stocking the cupboards up that much tho as i have a weeks shopping spilling out onto the sides at the mo, tho to be fair its cos i over shopped on treats for christmas so cupboards are a bit full of sweet treats, not relly dinner foods iyswim.
would be interested to see how you get on with this. did you do it in january too, how did you get on?

bella29 · 25/01/2009 22:26

Hello all

Just to say I have been lurking of late because our business has needed my full attention (and still does, sadly) but I have missed you all - this is definitely my fave thread.

Nice to see you haven't all been slacking in my absence and I'll do my best to check in tomorrow.

Night all

Bella

Wolfcub · 25/01/2009 22:28

dyls I did do it in January, it worked quite well although I underestimated how organised i needed to be and i had a couple more ten minute trips to tesco for things like eggs than i would have liked but overall it was pretty successful and we haven't had anywhere near as much food wastage as we would normally have.
