The smell! The smell! Please tell me how to get rid of it!!

We have a very nasty smell in our lounge-that even I can smell with my monster cold and have found the culprit-a huge patch of split full fat milk under the table-thak you dd!!!! I thought I'd sorted it yesterday with disinfectant and carpet cleaner but the smell is still there-how can we get rid of it???

Oust or fabreeze?

bicarbonate of soda. Sprinkle on thickly and leave overnight. If really bad, try dampening with soda water first (colour test before you try the soda water!)

Sprinkle bicarb of soda on the area. Leave for a couple of hours. Hoover up.

If you can find this
it is great I think you can get it in DIY shops.

Otherwise a solution of Biological washing powder might work.

I was thinking fabreeze but think it'll just mask it. I'll try the bicarb and soda water (i think we have some) and will try and get some of that amazing looking stuff hazeyjane has suggested-looks very handy!!!

I know when we had spilt milk my sister said to pour boiling water on it to kill all of the bacteria which make the stink. It did work although in the end we got rid of the carpet in the lounge as it had become generally smelly from wee / poo / food / drink spillages.

Biological washing powder has worked for us too. The enzymes work on it...
