Hi..sorry..I have had a blocked toilet for a couple of days now..nothing seems to be reappearing (sorry!!) after flushing and I don't think a dd has put anything down the toilet but it's just everytime the toilet is flushed, the water just rises to the top and very very slowly goes back down....what to do...apart from call an expensive plumber!! Any suggestions greatly appreciated..TIA

I have in the past used the toilet brush like a plunger - push it into the bottom of the pan and then some vigorous thrusting in and out gets a bit of a vacuum going in the u-bend which seems to clear things. Good luck!

mop as plunger works better IMHO

Go to your local hardware store and buy a chemical product (the strongest one they sell) to unblock it.

Unfold a wire coat hanger and poke it as far round the U bend as you can get a few times? Someone told me this, though never tried it on a loo - works for the kitchen sink though.

i have used the wire coat hanger to good effect!!

we switched to cheaper loo roll {aldis} as i think the thicker stuff was too thick iyswim

We had this because we had a blocked soil pipe.

TMI Alert !!! - we had to get the drains people out and they cut a hole in the bottom of the pipe (thus releasing the 'soil' all over the path and then put a hosepipe type thing down there and kept fulshing till it was running clear. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my life!

If the wire coat hanger trick doesn't work then you need a drains company.

*flushing obvioulsy.
