haha isn't it funny how you tell a company you're just going to cancel the direct debit they're suddenly willing to talk to you,
The home insurance here is in DH's name, he's told me to cancel it so I rang up to do so (bearing it mind it's coming out of my acccount - fair enough I am living here lol - and has been for YEARS). She initially told me he would have ring and cancel it.
I asked what would happen if I simply cancelled the direct debit from my end - pointing out that it was MY account it was coming out of so therefore I could very easily do that.
Suddenly she was willing to talk to me, took the policy number, his dob etc and confirmed for me that there would be no charge for simply cancelling the DD, the policy would just be cancelled when they didn't recieve payment.
Oh and Virgin was fun.......trying to explain that I wanted to stop this account here, I already have a new one set up (well nearly lol) at my new address and no I didn't want them to take away the equipment for me when they come to install my new stuff as I wanted to be able to watch TV/make phone calls on the Friday night when I'd be staying here. We got there in the end lol.
Although I did have to explain to him that I didn't want this account transferred to my new address BECAUSE IT'S IN MY (EX)H'S NAME - DUH!
