I change the bedsheets on our bed once a week, midweek. That cannot change for logistical reasons.

Either the pillow cases and duvet cover get ironed straight away and put back on the bed, in which case the duvet cover is nice and flat but doesn't change from week to week (which is boring) or I change the sheets for previously ironed and folded ones, which is more interesting but the duvet cover is all creased .

Another solution is not to iron the duvet cover and pillow cases for a week ie leave them unironed in a cupboard. Which is messy and takes up a lot of space and generally annoys me.

Does anyone hang up ironed duvet covers to prevent creasing? Is there something I don't know about to solve my dilemma?

I haven't the foggiest what you are talking about.

Alibear1 · 14/01/2009 19:28

I understand your problem, but no I don't hang duvet covers up.
You could roll them up instead, it's what I do with clothes I don't want to get creased.

Bizzarely I picked that up from a Jane Austen novel....

warthog · 14/01/2009 19:30

hmm i think you might get creasing from rolling them too though.

only solution is to not iron duvet after washing, but before you put them directly on bed.

southeastastra · 14/01/2009 19:32

ooh does rolling up clothes work? i have tons that are all creased because i've shoved them in and out of my over stuffed drawers.

TheProvincialLady · 14/01/2009 19:33

I feel your pain.

In big country houses the table cloths were often huge. They were stored by rolling them around long tubes. You could do the same if you were insane

DumbledoresGirl · 14/01/2009 19:34

I don't own a duvet. Have blankets and you don't have this problem.

SEA, do you really think rolling clothes will mean they are creaseless? LOL!

TheProvincialLady · 14/01/2009 19:34

There should be no creasing with rolling. Museum textiles are often stored this way.

memoo · 14/01/2009 19:35

OP, you have to much time on your hands

southeastastra · 14/01/2009 19:35

alibear says she does dg

Soprana · 14/01/2009 19:38

Ironing bedclothes? Whatever next?

Mercy · 14/01/2009 19:43

Go for the boring option if it saves you worrying.

How many changes of bedlined do you have?

Are you folding the duvet cover too small?

PS, I can't believe I'm responding to this (is that anna in paree btw?)

DumbledoresGirl · 14/01/2009 19:47

I want alibear to come to my house and roll my clothes for me. And then iron them all smooth again afterwards

siriusmew · 14/01/2009 19:48

I make sure my linen is starched (with m+s spray starch. Heavenly smell!!) This helps them to not crease as much whilst they're being stored. Then once I've put them on I'll plug the iron in and run it over the newly made bed just to get the odd stubborn crease out. [sad bed-perfectionist emoticon]

warthog · 14/01/2009 19:53

siriusmew and bonsoiranna, i take it you don't have small kids?

2pt4kids · 14/01/2009 19:53

You've got to either go for the wash, put away and then iron a week later thing or get a really expensive gorgeous new bedding set that you won't mind having on all the time...

siriusmew · 14/01/2009 19:57

Yes. Have a 4yr old and a 9month old. Wait til they've gone to bed and then indulge my freaky bed ironing fetish!!!

southeastastra · 14/01/2009 19:58

i'm going to test the rolling clothes theory at the weekend

noonki · 14/01/2009 19:59

you can iron bedsheets

IlanaK · 14/01/2009 19:59

Iron bedding????? I don't even iron clothes!!

Mercy · 14/01/2009 20:00

I always roll our (ironed) clothes when we go on holiday - it does work. Saves space too

DumbledoresGirl · 14/01/2009 20:13

Well, I will want photographic evidence if you conclude it works SEA.

pinkyporker · 14/01/2009 21:11

I steam mine while they are on the beds. Gets the creases out and kills off any dust mites.

warthog · 14/01/2009 22:53

hats off! am very impressed.

Alibear1 · 14/01/2009 23:00

DG not a chance - it's precisely because I'm allergic to ironing that I do the rolling

It does work honestly, for flimsey stuff I roll it up with a towel.

hunnybun1981 · 15/01/2009 21:46

GET AN IRONING PRESS DOES BEDLINEN IN A MATTER OF MINUTES FOLDED NEATLY NO CREASES WHEN U GO TO GET IT OUT OF HOTPRESS

I IRON AS I NEED IT
