I have been using sainsbury's own for ages but seems to me that they have jacked up the price now that people are getting more cost conscious and buying more own brands etc.

I have an aldi and lidl near by but not sure if their powders will do a good clean. The sainsbury's own I've been really happy with.

Any recommendations?

I can't use anything with a strong perfume or I'm sneezing and runny nosed for a couple of days after...

Lidl is really good imo. I use the non-bio powder, I think the brand is called Formil or something. They do bio ones as well.

Ivykaty44 · 12/01/2009 11:41

the which guide gave Asda first place in the own brands, appart from them dont bother was the verdict I believe.

That was just own brands though not named brands

I use Waitrose Sensitive Non Bio and it is great.

DD has asthma and DS excema but they are both fine with it.

whitenoise · 12/01/2009 11:42

tesco is good imo (not the value one, i haven;t tried that)

i use the tablets and haven;lt noticed an increase in tesco prices at least (I also use sainsbo ones but haven;t bought them for ages)

Oh god I NEVER use tablets - even own brand its the most expensive way to buy detergent! Come to think of it I never go in a Tesco I have lidl aldi netto and asda all within a couple of miles.

I would have to travel about 25 miles to a waitrose...

I always calcuate the £/p per wash from the number of washes on the box, and the price.

Will try asda and lidl.

Thanks for the replies ladies (now all I need is some dry weather).

I shop at Tescos and Aldi and the Tescos "Value" bio powder is the cheapest. No perfume and doesn't make me itch or sneeze.

Kbear · 12/01/2009 17:12

I use ALDI's powder, both non-bio and the bio - £3.40 for 2.85kg. Works for me.

How different can washing powder be? Really? I bet it all comes from the same factory.

SheherazadetheGoat · 12/01/2009 17:15

lidl formil is good and seems to last forever. i have one black shirt which the powder sticks to causing unsightly white stains but that is my only gripe and i think it happens with most powders

bluebump · 12/01/2009 17:15

We've used the Formil Lidl tablets and it's been really good. We don't get to Lidl that often so just tend to use Morrison's own brand stuff and that is equally good, I can't say I notice the difference between that and big named brands.

flipflopper · 12/01/2009 22:04

I use morrisons own, cant remember the name, non bio, and it is fine

AnotherFineMess · 12/01/2009 22:07

Asda non-bio is just as good as the Fairy non-bio I'd been using post-children (though it doesn't have quite the same nuzzle-your-nose-in-their-clean-vest-smell appeal)

CandleQueen · 12/01/2009 22:09

I use the Sainsbury's tablets, but only one in a wash (not two like in the packet).
Have used Formil from Lidl too and that's good.

Surfermum · 12/01/2009 22:11

I use the Lidl's liquid one and have no complaints. I use half of the recommended amount too (and I halve dishwasher tablets!).
