yes t'is me. And I love my coffee maker!

I can use pods too, but I cant bloody buy them.

I have to enter a serial number for my membership on the website, and I dont have it. Not available in shop, only online. At least where I am.

Hey, how can I even expect coffee pods in shops, when I am wedged between the artic windswept tundra and the ocean?

Have you moved house yet? (sorry, MAS, I know this was your thread...)

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/01/2009 22:40

Even the basic Gaggia model is quite good - I've got one called CUBIK and it was about the bottom of the range. Looks a bit Soviet, but is really good for coffee.

I had cheaper ones before which just didn't do the business. They burnt the coffee and one burnt me when I mistakenly opened the steam container/

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/01/2009 22:42

mmm, the Gaggia is definitely front runner !

Oh, oh, - but mine does filter coffee too... and you never know when a client might want normal not espresso....

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/01/2009 08:45

true ! I hadn't thought of clients, was just thinking of dosing myself up with caffeine

I think there's an electric version of the Bialetti stovetop coffeepots. You should get the smell, I presume.
Will scout around...
Here you go: www.amazon.com/Bialetti-1%252dCup-Electric-Mukka-Express/dp/B000TD85LO
I know it's the US site, I just coped and pasted the first positive response from Google.
If you do get one, feedback would be useful, as DH keeps forgetting ours on the cooker and destroying them. On one memorable occasion one exploded and covered the kitchen in a fine layer of coffee grounds.

AuldAlliance · 09/01/2009 13:57

Cheaper one here

Habbibu · 09/01/2009 14:19

In terms of quality and reliability, I think the less bells and whistles they have, the better, so I wouldn't get one that does filter too, as the quality of both is likely to be reduced, iyswim? Keep a cafetiere if you want filter, or just a kettle to lengthen an espresso into an Americano.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/01/2009 14:41

hey, that's good AuldAlliance -and good advice Habbibu

We have the Gaggia Syncrony Compact Digital - and it is fab - I am with zanz1bar on bean-to-cup machines. My Our Gaggia is far better than it's predecessor (a DeLonghi) which was next to impossible to clean - the Gaggia is really well designed in this regard.

Can I just say you are a bunch of evil bastards and after reading this thread I found myself looking at all these glorious and glamorous coffee makers in town today (whilst buying something altogether more pedestrian) and now have glam coffee machine envy.

After all these years with me trusty filter papers .
