I wash clothes very carefully, e.g whites separately, lights and darks separately etc.

However, when it comes to tumble drying, is is essential to still keep the colours etc separate? Some of the labels (e.g on jeans) say not to "pile items when damp" or to remove promptly. Am I wasting my time washing colours separately if I then dry them all together?

Some jeans have extra dye in them that coms out when they are damp. You should be fine tumbling coloured and white etc together (I do) but items that are 'overdyed', like indigo coloured jeans, are prob best tumbled with other darks.

Thanks for the answer. I am trying to save energy/time by not washing every day, but when I do wash I wash 2 full loads in a day. By the time I have hung stuff up that I don't want to tumble (delicates, bras, tights etc) I find that I have one full tumble load which of course is great for saving energy, but not so great if the colours run!
