Have had mice in house for few weeks. DH obsessively laying 'humane' traps as well as deadly traps, bait, bait boxes all over the place, so far not caught a thing, costing shed loads. the other night heard one nibbling on organix moon buscuit which i had left in handbag in our bedroom. Then horror of horrors found a mass of poo ( mouse not us) in DD bedroom behind furniture . Now on verge of tears at thought of little furry faced ones scurring about on the bed touching her ( i know how stupid THAT is ) and worring abiut the poison and trap DH has left ( inaccessable ) in her room. Has anyone got any ideas, specific traps that have hepped and do Rentokill actually do the 'tailor made' thing they promise? ironically some one at work gave her a giat ratatouille rat which she absolutely loves and cuddles /wrestles with all the time. HELP

Find the holes and stuff them with wire wool. We did this and never seen them since and we live in a field surrounded by the blighters! You need to find all the holes though.

Humane traps didn;t work at all for us. They could eat the chocolate bait and then open the trap and get out.

Get the council out. They will charge a small fee but will keep coming back until no more signs of mice. They put the bait/poison out of the way like behind the pliths in the kitchen etc.

Had a mouse problem - took about 4 weeks to rid completely. Had a cat and 4dc but they couldn't get to the bait.

Had rats in the garden too a couple of summers ago (courtesy of builders leaving a drain open at a site up the road) - the council came out for free that time.

we found loads in dds bedroom aswell, poo that is. she had been vomiting for a few days and pest control man said it was probably the droppings. i got her a new matress as i couldnt cope thinking the mice had been urinating all over it.

we paid £80 for pest control and he found out where they wer ecomming in fron, behind the boiler. he laid poison and we were mice free in a week.he checks every month now.

dont bother with those plug in sonic things, they have no effect. good luck.

We had a massive problem in my street.
You need the old fashion traps which B&Q sell 2 for £2.50. Set them up with various things like choc spread and peanut butter (we were very sucessful with peanut butter). Lay them in various places - always on edges of rooms by skirting boards and wait. They result looks awful but you will get rid of them.
We tried everything else - the plug in sonic things, box traps, poision (they ate that like smarties!) this was the only thing that works.
Also you need to try and find out where they are coming from and block all holes as previously suggested.
Good luck - I know how you feel I kept bursting into tears. Esp when ds would sit and watch for it! In the end the mice were so cocky they would walk right past us!!

Thanks all so much. have indeed tried wirewool etc but helpful to know council pest control sucessful and not as expensive as Rentokill. DH so please to find dead mouse in trap under DD's bed last night after weekend away. will keep trying all advice. found out both neighbours had mice last yr so i guess it's a local problem. great to know you all care and that your mice have gone. happy new year.
