Have you tried bicarbonate of soda? It's suposto neutralise smells, just rub the powder in, leave and hoover it out.

If it's gone through to the floor boards then you may have problems as it won't absorb this. Could you go through the insurance company? They will send someone out to look at it for you, they will take away all that is damaged and fix it for you.

scienceteacher · 02/01/2009 12:23

Febreeze

scrooged · 02/01/2009 12:27

Animal wee tends to go all the way through the carpet and into the floor boards. That's why you can still smell it. You may find that some of the boards need replacing, as well as the underlay and the carpet. It's best to call the insurance company.

Not sure about dog wee but it has worked on ther smells I have tried. Get some proper coffee put it it in a stocking or pair of tights and put in the room. The coffee absorbs smells. It has just worked a treat in our car which stunk of sick from ds2. It probably looked funny having a stocking having in the car but never mind

Dilute equal parts white vinigar & warm water. In a spray bottle if poss.

Dampen the area. Blot as much up as possible with plain white kitchen towel.

Allow to dry.

Repeat if necc. If it is a big area you may well need 2/3 goes.

I wouldn't use anything else as most of them contain ammonia & make it smell to the dog, so he/she thinks it can continue to wee there.

You can also get puppy training pads that absorbe the wee like nappies.

Do you know why your dog continues to wee there?

babyjjbaby · 02/01/2009 12:32

we ain't get floorboards we got like this bright blue lino stuff

Simple solution from pets at home. It breaks down the enyzme. Biogical washing powder is good but not as good as simple solution.

I agree - dont use bleach.

babyjjbaby · 02/01/2009 12:45

don't know why he wees there always has done have been using the puppy pads but couldn't afford to keep buying them some nights he would use 2 anight so bought a shower curtain for 89p so now lay that down at night and he wees on there or poos dirty sod he is and then just mop it in the morning it needs to be summit which i alrady have in as am sknit and can't go out atm i am going to mop the blue stufff with washing up liquid and vinegar then going to use carpet washer but put soem vinegar in the caRpet washer aswell

If broke use biological powder. It actually breaks down the enzyme rather than mask the smell. Trust me I have 3 dogs

hercules1 · 02/01/2009 12:47

He wees there because it smells of urine. Even if you cant smell it he can. You need to destroy the urine.

sandcastles · 02/01/2009 12:52

Doesn't washing up liquid have amonia in it?

We just used vinegar & water.

hercules1 · 02/01/2009 12:54

Biological powder. It is an enzyme breaker. It has no ammonia.

hercules1 · 02/01/2009 12:55

oops - that wasnt for me!

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 02/01/2009 13:08

your dog may have a problem as ours does...
We can mop a whole room in bio washing powder but he will still wee again and again. My dog will wee in his bed and sit in it, wees around the house yet I am home all day and he has access to the garden.

We are getting rid of the stair carpet and painting the stairs white as he has weed so often that the carpet is ruined. The vet says it's a behaviour problem -could this be the same for you?

grouchyoscar · 02/01/2009 13:20

Hey BabyJJ

Hope you had a good Xmas

Our stair carpet has been wreaked by indiscreet moggy accident and I second the bicarb method. Clean the carpet as best you can (I use a steam wallpaper stripper with the stripping plate offso, It's just steam really) Then sprinkle liberally with bicarb (Tesco sell it in 500g packs on the cleaning aisle. much cheaper than the baking stuff and it is the same thing ) Leave as long as possible then hoover it off. Ta-dah, stench vanished.

HTH

babyjjbaby · 02/01/2009 13:31

hi grouchy will try that then i have a steam cleaner the oinly trouble is i don't know how to pull th ecarpet up cos there is a metal bit by the door to keep it in place i'll have to ring me dad i have bicarb use it for the washing so once i know how to pull carpet up i'll steam it sprinkle bicarb vacuem off then clean the carpet with bio washing powder luvly wil be doing it in abit need to tidy up first tho

muppet yes sounds like lewi he has always weed and pood everywhere hes five in april i would love to stop him from doing it but don't think we ever will not without a magic wand but i don't mind if he wees on teh shower curtain or puppy mats i just need to get rid of the stink first i don't want to ever think he will stop weeing cos i get all dissapointed when he doesn't wee then couple nights late rhe starts weeing agin even tho he gets let out 5 mins b4 bed so there is no need for it have u got any tips on stopping them weeing or are u like me and have just become to accept that he will wee

hercules1 · 02/01/2009 13:33

DOnt forget to dissolve the powder in warm water first.

You need to take him to the vets. It's not normal for a dog to be soiling at this age.

edam · 02/01/2009 13:34

If bicarb doesn't work, go to a pet shop and get carpet shampoo for dog and cat accidents. (Also deals with the results of incontinent children.) But agree with those who have said it might have soaked through to the floorboards.
