Who can explain really good quality bedding to me?

I need a new duvet cover and sheets. I would like to buy something really good, but don't really know what that means. What should I be looking for, where and how much will I need to spend?

Also while I'm on the subject where can I get pillows that aren't limp and horrid after a few months?

Good quality bedding depends on the quality of the cotton and or linen and the softeness is determined by the thread count. The higher the thread count the better the quality.

The White Comany does really nice stuff but a double bed set ( duvet cover, fitted sheetr, flat sheet and pillow cases) is £100 plus plus

Have a look at their web site as I am pretty sure it expalins thread count etc. Then you can look at the sales in John Lewis etc for similar quality reduced.

I read somewhere that you should expect to replace pillows every six months so maybe that is the way to ultimate bedtime comfort.

However, washing them does help fluff them up again (if they are washable) and should eek a little bit more life out of them.

Have a look here about pillows.

I am off to try the shoe test on all of mine!

Autograph at M&S do some 400 thread count bed linen which is lovely and washes well - it is on discount fairly regularly, 20% or 30% off.

Try Dorma not cheap (always buy in their sales), but the bedding lasts for years! I wouldn't know about the duvets and pillows.
