Morning all

No links, as I think that we deserve a day off. I am just sorting brealfast for two screatchy boys and then dpoing lunch - oh yes and collecing mum too.

DS2 now has a nasty cold thing going on, so even last sleep, but I am trying to remain serine - for the sake of my BP.

TheSerinebutalittleMadHouse · 01/01/2009 19:12

now would thak be called friverlous spending - quick poll

OP posts:
Jas · 01/01/2009 19:24

If you want it. it is frivolous spending, if you need it, then it is a necessary purchase.

Only you can decide

Dp has been in the way all day. but itis his birthday, so I am trying to be nice

Christmas decs all down except the window lights.

TheSerinebutalittleMadHouse · 01/01/2009 19:31

I want it and can think of reasons I need it - ie laminating reward charts - but they onlt take mins to make, laminating special pictures of the boys, of that they do, making book marks etc

But I dont really need it

You could use it at children's parties, if there is a craft theme and hand over finished pictures and thus save money on other party activities. You could use it if you are on school pta and want to make signs, notices. You could fix nature, leaves, feathers, twigs, buttons. cheaper than framing with glass.

scattyspice · 01/01/2009 20:18

mad how much is it?

DCs in bed. New year, new regieme (again). I am trying to get them to go to sleep by themselves without me needing to stay in the room (they share a room). Yes, yes I know I've been here before, but this time I am confident. Also I have ordered a sprung mattress for DDs cotbed (she is still using foam mattress and says its 'not comfy'). I am determined that she will stay in her own bed all night (even if I have to sit on it in the middle of the night instead of letting her get in with me). Wish me luck!

Tomorrow:
Finish thank you cards.
Take down decorations
Sort toy boxs.

Oh Hell DDs shouting for me already!

Wolfcub · 01/01/2009 20:44

scatty a friend of mine has four boys with about 12 years between oldest and youngest so her method is well tested she swears by
A few painful nights of sitting outside the childs bedroom door and as soon as you hear the slightest hint of them trying to get out of bed you go straight in and plonk them back in with no fuss - I suppose it's a sort of slightly bigger childs controlled crying type method only controlled getting out of bed if you see what I mean. She swears it as he'll the firtlst nights but even the most stubborn son was staying in his own bed all night after a week

Ds iis going to find himself very firmly returned to his routine tomorrow. Having us at home has disrupted him hugely and he is having a toddler rebellion few days - time to put down the attempted revolution I think and time for dp and I to stop being so indulgent with him but that's very hard when we don't get to see him much but it's nnot fair on him really kids need routine and structure or at least that's my opinion

Wolfcub · 01/01/2009 20:47

god I sound like she who must not be named I' m not a dragon honest

wendythepositivethinker · 01/01/2009 21:17

Mad you NEED a laminator! There, said it for you. They don't cost much anyway these days.
Swan Glad you're enjoying TTLH I am an English teacher lol.
Happy New Year all! See you tomorrow perhaps, we are off to Chester Zoo
Still not got Xmas decs down - maybe Saturday!

swanriver · 01/01/2009 21:53

Just back from cuddling dd (6)to sleep. Well about 1hour and 1/4 ago. Very lovely and she was so awful when she was about four/five to put to bed that you didn't want to cuddle her! Just run screaming from the room. But now...a little story a little chat and lights out and hey presto calm calm and mummy fast asleep as well..ds2 (6)is still extremely annoying at bedtime and jumps up and down like loco monkey but can with great firmness of purpose be asleep by 8.15 and ds1 (8)has to be read a special serious book downstairs till about 8.45 as they share a room. So I suppose there is no getting away from labour intensive.

LadyOfWaffle · 01/01/2009 22:00

Hello! I am FLYing again, going to start baby steps tonight. I will soak my sink as soon as I DS stops feeding. Just going to stick to those forthe time being, along with my jumbled routine and see how I go All the decorations came down today (although DH gets the credit for that)

Jas · 01/01/2009 23:10

Congrats on your new baby LOW.....I knew you when you flew before, and your other thread (with smilley) has confirmed who I thought you were....I was Jelley.
Welcome back to FLY

So I'm the only one saying no to the laminator then?
I guess I'll have to concede defeat.

LadyOfWaffle · 01/01/2009 23:13

Oh hello Jelley! It's like a huge reunion tonight! You were on the origional threads I think, with Tort. and trinityrhino? What's this about laminators? I want a laminator! Tesco had one for about £12. Once I get a PC and a printer, i'll get one - for my routines and stuff

TheSerinebutalittleMadHouse · 01/01/2009 23:14

We will see Jas. I have a toy shopping tolley to take back to Argos, this is the second one MIL bought for Christmas for DS2. I have the receipt and would prefer a refund as we bought him a sturdier one from ELC. If they wont refund then I will get laminator. If they give me cash then I wont.

OP posts:
Jas · 01/01/2009 23:15

Tortoise still posts on here...I guess she is busy with children off school this week.

We met at the Christmas do

How is life with a new baby?

If a laminator is only £12 I may revise my opinion.....

LadyOfWaffle · 01/01/2009 23:24

Oh yes, I remember, the one in the nightclub Nice to know Tort is still about - this is like coming home! DS2 is wonderful, I cannot imagine just the one now! But really need to get back FLYing, I am out of the swing of it and cannot keep using 'the new baby' as an excuse! I remember you had a DC roughly the same age as my DS1. Bad memory!

Jas · 01/01/2009 23:27

DS will be three in Feb

Just shine that sink and the rest will follow.

I'm off to bed.
NN

TheSerinebutalittleMadHouse · 01/01/2009 23:29

£12 in Tesco I will have to look now

Hello and Welcome back LOW

OP posts:
TheSerinebutalittleMadHouse · 01/01/2009 23:31

£9 in tesco and £3 for 50 A4 pouches - now that is not too bad price wise

OP posts:
LadyOfWaffle · 01/01/2009 23:31

DS is 3 in March

NN Jas!

It was £12 online - try tesco.com then search laminator (sure that's what I did).

TheSerinebutalittleMadHouse · 01/01/2009 23:38

Twas what I did here might be even cheaper with the VAT discount

OP posts:
LadyOfWaffle · 01/01/2009 23:47

wonder what the difference is between that and the £20 one - same size , and laminate time. Worth a go for £9!

Spiderplant · 02/01/2009 08:34
