Drawing up floorplans for new house so I can see if furniture fits in - any computer programmes I can use?

That's it basically. We are moving into new rented accommodation in the New Year - I have taken a lot of measurements for the bedrooms and living room and am trying to work out if our furniture will fit comfortably in there. Of course I could get out a pencil, paper, ruler and rubber but I wondered if there was a wizzy programme I could use available online (preferably free of course!).

Anyone ever done it or found one?

IKEA do a free kitchen planner - you can fiddle with the measurements to make things the same size as your furniture, though the 3D part won't work very well...

get google sketchup and have a look at the warehouse for furniture options. have a look on youtube for video tutorials by adain choppra.

I use the Ikea kitchen planner as they have added office and bedroom to it so it covers quite a lot of furniture now. No sofas tho but you can add your own appliances and then make them the dimensions of whatever piece of furniture you like. So there would just be a block that thinks it's a fridge or whatever but at least you will know if it fits.

Personally I like the fun of doing it with a pencil and ruler and then cutting out the furniture so you can shuffle it round

Try Mydeco
You can put in your floor plan and then choose from tonnes of furniture from rl shops, you'll probabably find a match to yours if not some actual pieces.
Enjoy, I found it quite addictive!

Well, only 3 days before actually moving into new house - went to IKEA site and tried that out but then realised that my measurements weren't exactly accurate and had crucial bits missing - have got diverted packing up our flat so will just have to get in there and get on with it! But have found some interesting sites for furture reference so thanks to everyone who replied.
