I have had no hoover for 10 days now…

?and the dreck is unbelievable.

The hoover gave up on Monday night last week, the replacement ordered via Amazon has not arrived yet (don?t ask) and so I have hovered once in 10 days (borrowed my neighbour?s last Friday).

Yet when I mentioned this to some pals, a number of them said they only hovered once a week anyway. This is people with small children too. How is this possible? I cannot stand it. I normally hoover downstairs every day and upstairs twice a week.

Am I mad? Looking at my house now, I think not.

And you, whoingodsname.

Thanks, ladies

BellaKissedSanta · 11/12/2008 14:36

Oooh, come&seemybaubles.

Very kind - thank you.

Clary - I don't get down on my hands and knees or anything, just anything big that's obvious as I'm walking through the living room. Trust me - I'm no domestic goddess. As my old nan used to say, my house is clean enough to be healthy in and dirty enough to be happy in

BellaKissedSanta · 11/12/2008 18:41

Nice mantra, newholly.

Might steal that one

Clary · 11/12/2008 21:43

OK I'm all calm now as (long as I don't look at the floor).

Hoover (well Dyson actually) is promised tomorrow hurrah!

Sorry Bella, will be too busy hoovering my floors to do anyone else's.

Seriously tho, haven't noticed acres of extra time eg to errm wrap presents for example (oh dear)

Keep those eyes up, Clary.

It'll be okay.

Not long now.

Deep breaths - in, out, in out

Feel much happier now

I bet the cylinder is full already isn't it

Clary · 13/12/2008 01:55

well we have a relatively new carpet in the front room (one reason for hoovering so often! the carpet fitter told me to!) and it's orangey-red; the cylinder is now filled with orangey-red fluff lol

i got a dyson a while a go and was amazed ay how much it picked up, i was thinking my carpets needed cleaning but after a going over with the dyson they looked fine.

Clary · 13/12/2008 02:10

Ah you see you don't need to shampoo them just hoover frequently.

That's why I do it - I want to keep my £400 investment looking smart

I have always vacuumed everyday, sometimes twice even (got 11mo ) but my my XP messed up my last vacuum cleaner by sucking up sugar and it would barely suck up a feather it was that naff!

Its just did not compare to my dyson

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 02:30

I must admit, 10days wouldn't particularly bother me, my vacuuming only gets done when it's really necessary (I have sciatica problems and DH has chauvinistic ishoos when it comes to housework) - but maybe the OP has pets? That can make a lot of difference to the vacuuming-requirement level. When I had g'pigs, it needed doing much more often.

Clary · 13/12/2008 23:57

No, no pets here, just messy children maybe.

Eg today they were cutting out snowflakes, very pretty but lots of bits of paper on the floor.

I timed how long it took me to hoover the whole downstairs tonight - not with nozzle into corners etc but I do hoover under living room rug and move dining room table etc - 9 minutes. I reckon I can manage that.
