Bugger it.

I was cleaning the sharks off the lounge door (whole other story), when I realised just how vile the wall opposite that door is, so I gave it a quick squirt with my spray (forgetting it was "flash with bleach" and not your normal Mr Muscle.

Forgot about it, finished the door, and wiped the wall...

It is GLEAMING.

BUT... it shows just how bad the rest of the wall is and is really obvious.

I have 2 options.

a) Get out a ladder and spray and clean every inch of the walls in that area.

b) Rub in dirt

Both options are

Why did I think cleaning it "a bit" would ever be a good idea???

c) Get a frame and put round clean bit. Call it Wall Art

Flamesparrow · 09/12/2008 19:34

Ooh I like!

Personally I'd opt for teh dirt rubbing option on the basis of labour saving.
It would also be better for the environment, not using all that flash.

Flamesparrow · 09/12/2008 19:40

I love the fact that both of you avoided the cleaning option

I have discovered it is slightly less noticeable with the light on, so if I leave the light on all the time and just clean a bit more each day (only as high as I can reach obv... no-one will notice higher than that much will they??)...

It does make me feel better though - I was looking at it filthy trying to work out how we could afford to pay someone to decorate it (no way me n DH could do that drop ourselves). No I know it just needs flash

paint it

TinselianAstra · 09/12/2008 19:55

So it'll be clean to about 6ft 2 and then there will be a dirty bit before the ceiling?

Sounds like too much work. Clean either the top or bottom half (depending on where your patch is) and then you'll have a beauiful two-tone wall. You could even get a nic estick-on border

See, cleaning is never a good idea...

GiraffeAHolic · 09/12/2008 19:57

strategically placed tinsel

reindeercantdancethetango · 09/12/2008 20:00

pinboard?

Flamesparrow · 09/12/2008 20:00

Ah, I like the one half method, but it is torso height, so not really viable

breaghsmum · 09/12/2008 21:11

i did that once, painted in the end. i have one wall in living room burnt sugar and the rest all 'magnolia'

MerlinsBeard · 09/12/2008 21:21

leave the light on always

but otherwise erm...spend 2mo rubbing your hand around the clean patch

Sawyer64 · 09/12/2008 21:24

Couldn't you just use a long handled Mop, or tie a cloth to the handle, spray as high as you can get and rub with cloth.Worth a try IMO,especially if it saves you having to paint etc.

jalopy · 09/12/2008 21:27

I would leave the dimmer switch on permanent.

Ponders · 09/12/2008 21:39

Just give the whole lot a scrub with a microfibre cloth - they are fab at cleaning eg finger marks off door frames or dado-rails-down-the stairs, no chemicals, just get your wet cloth & rub & rub. Magic (& not too much effort & no rinsing)

If there is a height issue draw a line
