i have the vax heated all terrain, i only have two rugs and thats all i use it for. the only thing is, it leaves them absolutely soaking, the instructions say only do each area twice max, and i do but i did them last nite and thyre still soaking wet. were leaving wet footprints all over the house. i need to use it once a week as my rugs are cream and get so grubby. anybody else had this?? what did you do?

Which model?

I've got the 125 (I think!) and I just went over the area I'd cleaned without pulling the trigger until no water was coming up (that I could see in the collecting chamber). We've just got normal carpets, and they weren't even wet enough to give you wet socks afterwards. The each area twice max instruction is just for washing. You can go over without pulling the trigger as many times as you like. How long is the pile on the rugs?

I was thinking the same Four arms- you need to let go of the trigger then the machine will suck up some of the excess fluid (and the dirt with it) I have a vax rapid and my carpets are always dry within about 2 hours.

If you are using it correctly then perhaps it needs looking at.

I agree with fourarms and smartyjake, never had that problem, my carpets are always dry within a couple of hours.

i let go of the trigger when im pulling it back, i only do trigger when going forward, so i should go over it again without trigger untill no water is being collected, thanks fourarms and rest, will try now as its STILL wet. not sure which model i have btw

I think my manual said to pull trigger when going back then let go to push forward to suck up the liquid.

is it completely sealed? sometimes if you don't put the top on properly (if it's the same model as mine) it doesn't suck anything.

do you have any holes in the long pipe thing?

FourArms · 06/12/2008 07:31

Did you get it sorted?

breaghsmum · 08/12/2008 00:15

sorry fourarms, only getting back now. between logging off mumsnet and switching on cleaner i hurt my neck on thurs evening and have had to recouperate at my mums all weekend so only home this evening. mats are now dry by themselves but i will have to clean them again towards end of week so will let you know how it fares out. thanks for your advice btw

I always go over mine again not holding down the trigger at all untill no water is being sucked up.
